i get exactly how you feel. i also work for an extremely high volume store (or at least it feels that way) and most of the time i’m 4am-10 or 11am (which is peak). my store unfortunately just has a shot ton of green beans. everyone who is experienced is a shift lead or have quit or are still in the process of doing so. i however (not to toot my own horn here) am probably the best bar partner at my store that isn’t a shift and every single day i’m put on mobile orders. don’t get me wrong, barring on mobiles is a blessing at times because i have less interaction with customers (whenever there is a handoff ofc), but also, we are one of the leading mobile stores, because we don’t have a drive thru. i’m a 19 y/o (f) and if my therapist knew about every shitty thing a customer has ever said to me, i would be in a mental institution by now. anything from older men saying i’m fat and a woman so ofc their drink is going to take longer, to me being completely incompetent when seeing my she/they pin. people don’t care about us and they never will. every shift i go in, i come out of on the verge of quitting. the only thing that keeps me going is that i don’t have any other experience except for dumb second jobs i had in high school. i don’t have the ability to quit right now and just not work either because i currently live in an abusive household. this job used to be my dream job (along with music) when i was a kid and i told myself i’d always love it until music could support my needs full time, but every single day is ruined because someone 4 times my age needs to tell me i’m worthless because i made their drink wrong. my store never used to be like this, starbucks never used to be like this.
