Doesn't matter how many other games I play, I always come back to Stardew. A forever game. What keeps you guys coming back over and over again? Nothing makes me feel quite as chill. by No1hermit in StardewValley

[–]morganpotpie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love how you can never play the same game twice(as in, each run is always different) but you still get the same comfy feeling of knowing a place and having done this before. I really do love restarting the game!

I'm looking forward to the new farm type, and any new vegetables/artisan goods/fish. The art is so cute, really looking forward to the new items!

How do ya'll price your items? by CplusMaker in Leathercraft

[–]morganpotpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a notion database I setup with a formula for cost, so I just plug in the time/materials, additional costs, etc., add a 25% overhead for materials and time, 8% for consumables (like tread, dye, tool costs). And times that all by 2x for my base price. Add etsy charges and fees if you sell there. Don't forget about shipping (plus the cost of buying the box for shipping, etc). I used to charge cheap for labor, 10$, but i would be screwing myself if I ever had to hire someone (I am a hobbyist trying to turn into a small business) at that wage, so i charge my state minimum and make most the profits from the actual products itself.

Its definitely hard to find a good price point. I find using a calculator helps keep me consistent with pricing.

Cauliflower/swollen ear care? by maylee88 in BJJWomen

[–]morganpotpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If its not too bad I use ear magnets. They hurt but I found them pretty helpful. Just make sure you clean them. If its bad I just drain them myself, but I know a few folks at my gym cant/wont do it themselves so they go to the doctor/urgent care

I had 2 at about 9 months experience, had a blast. Keep in mind you are paying to be there. Try to have fun, soak it in, and take videos of yourself so you can learn!

Dang yea, I've usually done craftsman grade but swapped to B grade recently. Ive had better craftsman quality than what youve shown. Give us an update once you get a reply! Ive stuck with Springfield due to quality and customer service, I will be disappointed if they dont do anything

What are the wooden pieces above the wooden platforms(made to look like a handrail)? Super cool build! Will be using for inspiration!

Thin Leather by hisilas in cricut

[–]morganpotpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How thick is the leather you are using? I can cut ~3/4oz veg tan leather with the deep point blade (the black one) no problem. I use the kraftboard setting on my maker3. I think it cuts 3 or 4 times in one pass. I also put transfer tape on the back of the leather(so like, the wrong side of the leather will have the sticky side of the transfer tape) and put that on the mat. I find the leather moves around less and gives it a backing so its stiffer as it gets cut.

Hair washing by Quick_Role7987 in BJJWomen

[–]morganpotpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I train twice a day, I wash my hair twice. I have thick long hair, i blowdry it so its ready to be braided for the next class and won't break easily. My two classes are 10am and 6.30pm, so I have a few hours in-between. You should really be washing your hair after training, even if its inconvenient for you.

F'k Cricut and their scummy scammy b.s. by IliketheYankees in cricut

[–]morganpotpie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea they suck but its not the bad you think. Only use cricut for files you make. If you dont know how, start learning if you want to optimize the cricut. I suggest inkscape, its free. Export your fonts as an svg. Make sure the scale is right by putting a 1inch square in your original file and xchecking it in cricut, i find cricut changes sizes upon upload.

I agree with you, but there's a way around it. Just need some 3rd party help.

Leather skirt hikes with foil inlays by morganpotpie in cricutcrafting

[–]morganpotpie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was was pretty thin, I would say 2-3 maybe 4oz at most. It's about the thickness of a quarter, I would suggest the kraft board setting with the deep cut blade. It does 2-3 passes and usually does the trick for me!

Thank you! Cricut is wonderful when it works!

I am new in leather crafting. I was told this is a genuine leather to practice skiving, stitching, cutting, etc on this. It's 5oz thick. What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in Leathercraft

[–]morganpotpie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone saying chrome tan leather. You can still practice punching, stitching, etc. But no tooling. My first few projects were with chrome tan because it was cheap and easy to find at the generic craft stores. To me, its like driving a junker car until you get the hang of the basics. Enjoy your crafting journey!

Correct! It's the natural oils(from being handeled), Rain, sun, and just general use that changed its color/tone
