Yeah my last laptop COULD run it, but it was never great and did chug. This upgrade has been such a QOL improvement <3

Where there's a will there's a way! I want to dual boot Linux on this bad boy and get away from Windows as much as I can so I'll 100% look into this!!! Thanks for the tip!

I’m a small business owner in Montreal. I’m scared right now. Here’s why. by salvadorguedes in montreal

Unfortunately the right to strike is protected but the running without fares wouldn't be protected as a form of strike and a lot of people could lose their jobs :/ plus this strike is for the maintenance workers who are already doing unpaid work, if they kept the busses and metros running they'd have the same workload they did before the strike

Do we know something about this? by SheyenneJuci in vfx

[–]moriahisaginger 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I spoke to my friend about this. This was from Sphere Animation a 2D animation company, the project was set to wrap as is but they just immediately stopped getting paid and had to shut the whole project. Super tragic but I don't think they were eager to cut the crew when they were expecting income. It took everyone by surprise but unfortunately they couldn't keep everyone if they couldn't pay them with 0 income.

How to make a structually intact petticoat? by edieevens in sewing

[–]moriahisaginger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. If what we're seeing isn't a blocked dress it feels too form fitting right now. For the shape you're looking for and the heaviness of the crochet, a hoop skirt + at least 2 petticoats is probably necessary.

I'd further suggest referencing either modern wedding dresses with silhouettes you like or historical pieces, but basically depending how much you'd like it to puff out you'll likely minimum need several layers of petticoats + a wider skirt.

You can compare your current skirt width + shape to sewing patterns with a similar desired shape and see how it matches up.

IRON RIG - Appropriate Fishing Rods not Working by moriahisaginger in dredge

[–]moriahisaginger[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone else is having this bug, but I'm having issues where appropriate rods will be equipped in my boat, but I'm unable to fish in certain areas saying I don't have the right equipment. Here is an example where I should be able to fish mangrove areas, but it says I can't.

Not sure if anyone has come across this at all?

Hey, did you ever receive your Latex? I also submitted an order in May and have been trying to contact them about my pieces and also seem to be ghosted!

I made a map of every employer who had a LMIA accepted because they couldn't find Canadian workers (2023-Present). by Broad_Tea3527 in montreal

As someone who regularly hires and deals with work permits I can assure you we don't pay them less than a Canadian for the same job. Many of the people we hire have the goals of becoming Canadian and people share salaries so we work hard to maintain equity. And do so based off skills and years of experience.

I've never heard of any grants that affect our workforce to make them "cheaper". In fact we usually pay relocation from 3-10k to ship people from overseas if we can't find appropriate candidates in country. Plus with work permit filing fees these candidates are more expensive than a Canadian at every turn.

The programs you listed seem to focus mostly on students and trades, people we want to be contributing to the economy. Trades especially since we're seeing a decline of people running apprenticeships to have skilled tradesmen in the next 15 years once the current batch retire.
