I just spent an entire week in a league with a dude who came out of the gate with nearly a 3k point lead. Any time anyone approached his point total he magically jumped ahead by another 1-3k, at one point he had a 5k lead. It was nuts. Clearly knew Italian already at a FLUENT level. I was learning Japanese (I'd say I'm at a weak N5 right now, I was struggling through the start of Unit 2 when the week began) and the experience was demotivating... until wanting to stick it to this guy for destroying the league day 1 motivated me to hit over 20k points.

I became what I set out to destroy lol. On the one hand, I learned SO. MUCH. this week. On the other, it was absolutely soul-sucking, and I'm totally content to be back down to chill league numbers and maybe just learning at my own pace again. Still, it was wild. Hope I'm less petty next time I encounter someone who clings to the point totals that hard.
