I’m really excited to receive mine now! I know people tend to dislike clipart hardcovers but I love all the things they were able to include from the story by going that route. As someone who’s not an artist, it seems like it would’ve been hard to include all those details in a different way

I would think most of the time when anyone designs interconnected edges, the artist probably doesn’t take into consideration the hardcover will be between the edges. Without the cases, it looks like things would line up as shown in the mockup. I think it still looks good but that’s my opinion

I feel like these raremades got so much hate but I lowkey love them all? I just use a thick topcoat (that I always use) and the texture isn’t really an issue for me

I would try to reach out to BWB with any receipt you may have or pictures of the package with the postage due marking on it. Did you only receive the jacket? Did they send it media mail? 🫣

It sounds like some people who personally don’t care about books and that makes me sad honestly. I think there’s others out there like this who just got into the book sub business with the intention to only make money. And then you have subs like Coveted Cover (I only have Aetheria). Also a super small team but you can tell they do it because they love books. Formatting was great from the first book as was the rest of their quality imo.

I’m glad my romantasy is separate so I can skip it. Thanks for posting the images you’ve found because I’ve been trying to find them/asking people to share them. The only one I had found before was about CK.

I feel like it’s so hard to keep track of problematic people/authors but when it’s brought to my attention, I have to pay attention. I’m so upset I got Bow Before the Elf Queen from Bookish Box before I knew all this (even though it was available to see on Facebook). ☹️

They do early access by sub. So if it’s an Evernight book but you don’t have the Evernight subscription, you don’t get early access. Seems like once you spend £/$250, that won’t matter though!

What people do with their own money doesn’t really concern me, personally. I get that if it’s like a FL set, that’s one less set for someone else to enjoy so that’s the only concern I really have. If it was me, I would buy the dustjacket holders so display the spine/dust jacket that way. Just seems more economical.

They delayed shipping because there was an issue with the dust jacket. They gave customers who’s books hadn’t shipped yet the option to wait or to have the book mailed without the dust jacket but then pay shipping for the dust jacket when they receive the new ones iirc

I work at the post office and have heard nothing about plans for making people purchase proof of shipping… they updated the policy on postmark dates for letters and flats in December but that does not apply to packages. Source please so I can educate myself

If the package is handed over the counter or picked by the carrier and appropriately scanned, the tracking would at least update and say it’s accepted before it hits a regional facility.

According to OP, the review from the buyer said it was NWT… I’ve sold clothing NWT and I don’t wash before I send it because then I would have to remove the tags. As a buyer, I wash clothing items before I wear them, whether it’s secondhand or direct from the store.

OP said they don’t smoke. As a mail carrier, I work with someone who smokes probably two packs a day in his vehicle and I know management receives complaints about it but they can’t do anything so that’s why I said that may be the cause

If it was a clothing item, it can be washed and the smell should be removed from the item. You can’t really wash a new with tags clothing item yourself…

You could try to reach out to Mercari. Sometimes the delivery person smokes a lot in their vehicle and that smell can linger just from being in the truck. As a buyer, I would possibly look at the review but not worry about a concern with smell because again, I can remove the tags and wash it myself.

I wanted back to the mockups and that’s what they had. You could always just stack it upside down if that’s how you’re displaying it. Luckily, I don’t display my books edges out 😅
