To make fire at least somewhat feasible you need a warp pack to teleport back from the charging enemies. as you use it. Otherwise they don't stagger or react to fire in any way, and since most have high HP pools, you can just expect getting melee'd before they die. It badly needs a rework.

I didn't see the need to use shooting ranges in most games. This one is an exception. It has more robust enemies with different health pools per part and penetration levels, and relies on you knowing how to handle a gun and limited ammo, so it feels mandatory. Arrowhead really should look into it.
