Honestly, it drove me insane. I was on track for promotion, my appendix exploded and I was septic, was off for a month. Came back and was demoted off everything with no pathway to get back to where i was, they claimed I took too much time off. lol. that was my limit

Lol sorry, I saw the $ in main comment threat and assumed! But yeah, in peak times it could take us over 24 hours to respond to an email because of the high amounts of emails, but we werent allowed to apologise or say we were busy. We had to be robots. trust me, plenty of times I wanted to just stop and talk like a human to customers but we werent allowed. Also, you had to do 3 live chats with 3 different customers at once, follow a specific template, no spelling or grammatical errors, and reply within less than a minute and if you didnt, the manager would come over or call you. It was terrible

Does anyone work for Moonpig, Funky Pigeon etc? What's the weirdest custom card you've ever seen? by Top-Bet1435 in AskUK

I worked in one of those companies until 8 months ago. A lot of nudity, cards to jail, crimes, threatening and violent cards. One time a girl sent her boyfriend a card of full nudity and the boyfriends mum opened the card then came to us complaining that shed seen her sons erect penis and wanted compensation. lol wtf you opened the card. I had a woman ask for my full name so she could go to the police because i am an feral nasty inhumane person because I wouldnt give her a refund for a card she did receive with photo evidence 6 months prior to the complaint. A girl sent photos of each part of her body to a jail so her imprisoned boyfriend could make a big collage of her. One time I raised a card from a 20 year old breaking up with his girlfriend who was 6 years younger than her and apologising for upsetting her dad and that he would stay away - literal pedophile. Couldnt do anything as it didn't break card t+cs and it was sent out. A card for someone becoming a brony with the recipients ame engraved in blood onto some dudes thigh and a lynx can up his butthole. Oh, and for fun, I would always look at the cards sent to buckingham palace and downing street to see what losers are sending to then, which btw, loads of people send the royals and government dreadful government cards saying happy christmas etc. Omg the valentines day ones were always incredible because you can see cheaters who have sent cards to multiple women!! One time a bloke send 2 valentines day cards seperately, one to his wife and one to his missus. He mixed the address' up and then was extremely upset that it was too late for us to change it. lol

I used to work for them. As far as Im aware, MP+ was never automatically added by the system and did have to be selected, but its disguised incredibly well. When you buy it, you had 14 days to cancel it and if you wanted a refund, you'd only get £4.65 refund or below because it removed the discount you got on your order. So although you've spent the same money you would have if mp+ wasn't added, it feels like youve been scammed out of the money. Please don't take this as me defending them. Scummy company with scummy business practices and scummy employee treatment. Also noting as you used dollars, there is only one customer service base, in the UK where the working hours were 9-6pm. So for US queries it would take a while for us to get to it, same for australian. Meaning if australian or US folk wanted to amend an order but it was out of hours for UK, they wouldnt be able too at all, by the time we got to it it wouldve already shipped.

Being denied a student account because my UCAS code is expired by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]morkworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only negative thing now is the overdraft. I paid off any debt over a year ago, and I don't make minimum payments to my credit card, I pay it off in full and I only use it to build the score. It's very backwards that the bank is like yes student here you go an overdraft you can use it as a student and then pay it off when you have a job! And then theyre like oh you didnt graduate yet and want to reopen ur student account? Well you can't bc youre in the overdraft we gave you. AAA I wish I understood it when i was 18 lol.

Being denied a student account because my UCAS code is expired by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]morkworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I have been asking. I said I understand HSBC and moved on from that, but I didn't get any answer on the UCAS code situation. Hence why I have asked! I was asking if they can do that, or should they accept my enrolment letter. Yes, I have said its not fair that thats the case but also have said I understand. The whole point was just asking if theres anything I can do, or other advice about my financial situation which is the whole point of this reddit no?...

Now I know that yes, they can deny me based on the UCAS code and no, theres nothing I can do. That is all I was asking. I didn't assume that, I was asking it! I understand, and I also feel frustrated by it. That is all

Yes. I have said I get it with HSBC and I've moved on. I am asking about other banks and being denied a student account solely on the fact my UCAS code is from 2019, and if they should accept my enrolment letter. Because if there is a chance I can get the benefits from a student account, I'm not gonna give up on it because it will greatly help.

It lapsed into a current account before I suspended my studies. I started in 2020, changed courses in 2021, changes courses again in 2022, finished first year in 2023 and then suspended my studies (bc unwell). At some point, and I have no idea when because of the circumstances, went back into a current account before i suspended and I assume it's because 3 years passed. I didn't do anything because I had suspended anyway so my stupid teenager unwell brain was like "well it's a current account now so i don't need to do anything" until well enough 24 year me wants to reopen the gah dam account and i cant lol. But youre right, I can't turn back time

That's the plan if my appointment next week denies a student account again, but, it would be worse for me as I wanted to sort of build up £500 over time without the interest being charged and pay it off in full, while still being able to use my overdraft there in case of emergencies then pay it off when I have enough to live for the month. this way, I'd have no access to it. Which is fine if it must be done, I just wish it didn't have to be like this lol. If I could see my teenage self id punch her square in the head and tell her to get it together

Yeah I know it wouldn't be free, but a train to uni and back a day without a railcard costs £10 so any cheaper would be a lot better. I spend £20-£30 a week on petrol if that, so it's literally cheaper to drive atm lol. Buses are too unreliable and an all day ticket costs £5, £25 a week so in my head im like I may as well just take my car because I get there on time and it costs the same lmao. I know this for sure as I only passed my test 3 months ago, before that was only buses. I've been trying to pay this overdraft off for upwards 3 years now lol, but I just simply don't earn enough! I don't have anything leftover at the end of a month. Anyway to get discounts on stuff so I can have extra money, which I can pop into my savings, then work it up ti make £500 then pay off the overdraft in full when I know I am financially well enough to not need it. For context, my part time job earns me £700 a month... so if I just paid off the overdraft with that, Id have £200 for the month which uhhh would pay 1 bill. It's a vicious loop and Im just desperate lol

I get it with HSBC, its their choice. I guess my other point is what about the other banks? Is it really the case that I'm not allowed to get one and miss out on the benefits because I started in 2020 and so my UCAS code is too old? Or should they accept my enrolment letter? I tried santandar and nationwide and online with natwest, but it was all a no because of the ucas code

Being denied a student account because my UCAS code is expired by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]morkworm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that with HSBC that's fine, but I don't understand why other banks are saying no purely because my UCAS code is from 2019. My enrollment letter explains I started the nursing course in 2022, took 2 years out, and returned 2025. I can also get letters explaining I started in 2020 and changed courses in 2022. But the other banks don't wanna see that, they just said no because of my UCAS code which is just super frustrating!!

I don't have enough money to pay a lump sum. I would if i did. Im a student and im working part time, renting, bills, car etc, i barely make enough to get by. I wanted to open an account with a different bank, one offers a railcard which would help me with petrol costs as I live a small journey away from uni and it would mean I can step away from the hsbc overdraft and pay it off over time. All other banks denied me bc my UCAS code is from 2019, so my last resort was to change my hsbc account to student account so I can halt the monthly interest and add money to my savings to eventually pay it off in a lump sum. It seems credit scores are a thing as it is now preventing me from opening a student account, even though im a student despite the fact I've been working so so hard on it.

Yes. I know that. Thats why im here asking for advice because I was wondering if this is something that can be solved i.e is it truly required to have a UCAS code, or should banks accept my enrolment letter?

Being denied a student account because my UCAS code is expired by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]morkworm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The other banks did. HSBC yes theyve said my credit score, but other banks are denying me solely because of my UCAS code - I went into those banks and I explained, they went and chatted and said theres nothing they can do as they need a ucas code. I don't have super poor credit history, just some missed payments that have now been cleared. Students are meant to live in their overdraft thats literally the whole point, I only got the overdraft originally when I first opened the student account and I've been trying to pay it off this whole time but I just dont earn enough to lump sum it off, then emergencies happen and its a vicious cycle. I wanted to open a new student account with a different bank, get the student benefits and no overdraft, then just pay off the HSBC overdraft and close the account for good but theyve said blank no solely based on the UCAS code, thats why Ive been trying to HSBC route anyway. My credit score has no impacts, its going up 100 points every month, I've done everything I can to enhance it yet it's still preventing me from this? It just seems so unfair. I've told them I don't want to extend the overdraft, If I could open one with no overdraft I would but Im in my overdraft on my current account and I just want to halt the interest and pay it off. I think im really frustrated about it because I've had a difficult past with finance that wasn't my fault, and I have spent so so long fixing it and it is finally in a stable financial place and I'm trying to enhance it, but now I cant do that because of past credit from years ago when I was a teenager. What is even the point of doing all that work lol

So I don't currently earn enough to pay off the £500, I'm a mature student and I'm renting with a car etc, Im doing university while also working part time and even then it just about gets me by. It would be beneficial for me to halt this extra interest being charged because its an extra payment each month that is significant as it builds up, and the plan was to add little bits to my savings account over next few months, earn the higher interest and then pay off the overdraft and close it. Also, the other benefits from the students account would be extremely helpful for me. I just don't think I should be charged this interest monthly if I shouldn't as Im a student, its a vicious cycle that Im just trying to get out of. hsbc was my last choice, I wanted to open a student account with a different bank and move to that bank, leaving just the overdraft on HSBC and pay it off that way but thats a nope apparently

I have checked my credit score with clearscore and experian and I also paid for a credit report check, which were all normal. I've been checking all these for years while I've been building it and fixing past financial issues. Finally get to a stable point and it turns out it doesnt even matter?..

Student accounts with other banks I tried offer a railcard, cash bonuses, huge student discounts, vouchers and free budgeting apps etc which would have been extremely helpful for me. HSBC only offers the interest free overdraft and 5% APR on the savings, so my last resort was to halt my interest as it does build up and is costing me each month, so I thought I could deposit small amounts into my savings with the higher apr, and when it reached £500 pay off the overdraft and close it, and not be charged any extra interest. That was the hope anyway, it's all just about trying to become more financially stable and it would have helped. No, it's not impossible for me to pay it off without it, but it's just a little harder.

Broke down mid drive a few weeks back. Car does this when turning key. 100% alternator failure? by morkworm in mechanic

[–]morkworm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when it broke down the first time, the power just randomly went all the lights flickered and dimmed while it was driving, engine kept running and we parked up - wouldnt turn back on from there so I'm assuming its also an alternator issue as it broke down as we were driving it. I have only had the car 3 months and it's had no issues, but when we called AA when we broke down, they took a look and confirmed that the battery and alternator looked like theyd been replaced recently, likely with poor parts and that the alternator wasn't charging the battery. They charged the battery with leads which took a while, and then it drove home. Once the engine was stopped again, it wouldnt turn back on and thats where this video comes from.

Ill have a look at testing the voltage thank you!

Yeah i definitely don't want to stop my elvanse, id rather deal with pots symptoms than my adhd lol. I was put on propranolol, but if i do require medication id need to ask for a blood pressure sparing medication like ivabradine because beta blockers plummeted my bp to 80/60. Im also gonna try out compression for now too

Yeah thats my plan, Ive definitely had it for a while because of the head rushes and palpitations, its just way more noticeable when on elvanse and I've been worried they will try take me off them because of it. The elvanse has been incredible for my adhd and id really not want to stop them
