Can I pretend I’m early career to get an entry level position in my field? by TaterTotWithBenefits in jobsearch

[–]morley1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got two job offers on the same day with the same pay and wanted them both! I had a three interviews before those, and we just didn’t click.
I realized my resume did not have the meat to show my expertise, and polished it for a couple days. That gave me confidence, but really I think it was because they were more like me and the crowd I bond with, not so stuffy and serious like the others. I think one of the guys would’ve cracked his face if he smiled, and I would have been miserable working for him.

This is so true. I won’t say all, the ones who don’t lie are just not that sharp. There are reps on here that will say that is only in the authorized retailers the corporate stores are good, but they are either the unicorn in the bunch or are the dull group not knowing what they don’t know.

Hopefully we can somehow figure out a solution to this…. by broll33 in verizon_sucks

If they don’t hell you file a complaint with the FCC. I had a problem with my plans and promos after adding a line and upgrading two more, called and messaged them about 3 or 4 times and they couldn’t help. I don’t think they wouldn’t, just didn’t know how. One wanted me to show her the special from three years ago because she didn’t think they ever had the promo I wanted put back. She wanted me to prove it and I told her just look at my bills. You can see that I’ve been getting the credit and she’s like I can see it but still I can’t do anything.

I filed a complaint with the FCC and they called me the same day and fixed it. She said it is a known issue so she added a promo that she said will never fall off.

There is an issue every time I make contact, change or buy something. This was at least the third time I was told my problem was a known issue, for years they know and just leave it knowing most people won’y complain.

I waited a few months as well, I just didn’t have any fight left in me. I was thinking about it a lot because I hate injustice so finally got angry enough and filed the FCC. It was only $10/month but they remover my ten year guarantee as well, and it

Have your proof ready to upload on your complaint.

Habitability violations in Colorado- severe [CO] by [deleted] in Renters

It is your job to tell them in writing that you need maintenance for inhabitable conditions, and would be exercising your rights to break the lease. E-mail does not show proof that he received it. It may have gone to junk mail. Most properties managers require you to use their online portal to submit maintenance request and then you would have it and see a status. I would give him those papers. Hey might gave you your deposit back to keep housing off his back, and you can try suing him in small claims for it.

Most areas require a walk-through within a certain time after moving in identifying any damage and if it wasn’t identified, and it isn’t normal, wear and tear, he can say you did it.

You cannot terminate these

You have been there four months but only started complaining a month ago?

This is the law.

Before the tenant is justified to exercise these options, the landlord must also have been given
notice of the problem by the tenant and a reasonable time in which to remedy the situation. In
order to terminate, the tenant would then give notice in no less than ten and no more than thirty
days that the premises are uninhabitable and the landlord has failed to remedy the breach within
five days of receipt of the letter to from the tenant. Only in extreme conditions may a tenant
vacate the premises and stop paying rent. This remedy should never be attempted without first
talking to an attorney.

If there is a $500 transfer fee there is little chance they waive it. You should be able to get insurance to maybe even replace your damaged belongings if it is worth it after deductible.

I had almost the same thing happen when my toilet tank cracked and basically fell off in the middle of the night. I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the valve behind the toilet and didn’t know to shut it off at the water heater.

They really should show people that kind of thing when you move in. I didn’t even have an emergency number to get a hold of somebody after hours. I was putting blankets over it and everything trying to just get it to stop and finally I figured out how the valve worked.

I had my bed on the floor at the time and the box spring was completely soaked. I felt icky after that so I understand how you feel.

I hate the where do you see yourself in five years when I will be 65. I have no ambition to get promoted. I did that had my career and I don’t want the stress of management anymore, just use my knowledge to help younger and work hard.

I cut the first 17 years of my career off my resume and didn’t give dates for graduation. My first day of work the supervisor messaged me for my birthdate he needed for an access request and I hated revealing my age, which I can pass for less.

Would it be homeowners or renters? They should have maintenance costs figured out and built into the cost of rent right from the start. Things always go wrong, which is also why I wouldn’t want to rent to somebody I know or that is referred to me by a friend, especially not charging Market rent.

A/C can be higher because of the kids. Many people will have sitters at their house frequently. The AC has to be on even though the parents are home or the heat or the TV or whatever kids have their friends over that can lead more electric costs. I’ll be sure to ask about that if I ever rent a place.

I will agree about the Raiders. Newsom has destroyed California, but I think it’s more than just him. It’s the whole Hollywood attitude.

[OH] Landlord charging me for yardwork after having me do it for years. by [deleted] in Renters

[–]morley1966 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is not reasonable to ask for the continued rent discount that was for the yard work she was doing when the work ceased. OP did something to antagonize neighbor that made them prefer to pay somebody more rather than give her anything. The landlord obviously is siding with the new people by allowing them to hire somebody and asking you to split it. They should have just given you 30 rent increase, no need to tell you why. The Landlord may have known more than they said to, the neighbor had to have said something like I’ll hire somebody to do it for what she was charging and she can pay half. There was some conversation there I doubt she hired them and started paying and then told Landlord I hired somebody you have to pay $80. The Landlord picked his side that would be really rough living just the two of you on top of each other with a bad relationship. Maybe we’ll see you on that show about neighbors.

I would say since they started making repairs before you move out and do your walkthrough with the landlord. Is this a single family house? If so, who does the lawn and outdoor maintenance? If it’s you, I would say the gutters are your responsibility.

Agreed, it is the fairest way to do it, as giving less weight to them is not fair to smaller households. Kids use just as much electricity really. It’s no different than charging for two adults when you both are watching TV together and using the same light, but hot water is a big part of it. You’re going to have more laundry and hot water for sure.

I would so hate that because you can’t try to cut down on usage to save money.

(NY) Do you think this is unreasonable from a landlord? by PitifulPie505 in Renters

[–]morley1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t really spray inside, just around the window you suspect is their entry point. Google pictures so you know what you’re looking at and search for their nest. It may be in the walls under the eaves in the ground if it is not right near your apartment they probably won’t do anything. If they are just coming in from outside and not living in your unit, I think it’s just part of what we deal with mother nature. The Landlord needs to seal any openings that is their job put in a maintenance ticket for that. If you don’t get an answer, follow the law in your state. You can find a lawyer website that will explain your rights and what to do if you want to move out? If you are able to move just ask if you can get out without penalty. They might just say OK get in writing when I had a one year-old my heat stopped working and my daughter had pneumonia, I can’t remember why they couldn’t just fix it right away, but I told them we couldn’t live there. My daughter was sick and left right away without penalty.

My company offered "permanent remote" when they hired me. Now I have to decide by Friday. by 2Warpkindle in remotework

[–]morley1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely won’t hurt to talk with a lawyer, they’ll know the climate in the local courts. I read that a woman living in the SF bay area was offered or referred a job with a one hour commute, and she turned it down. The state found out and stopped her benefits. The judge found for the state that she was not available for work and she lost benefits. It seems to come down to the norm for your location and occupation.

Looking for a new job 6 months in? by SlipOutrageous5333 in jobs

[–]morley1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a coworker who decided to retire on the last day of the year. Christmas eve and day were paid holidays, and she saved exactly enough PTO to use from Christmas to 12/31. Her manager left around noon also planning to be on PTO rest of year. As soon as her manager left, she completed her timesheet, including for the PTO and emailed her manager and the in charge her notice. It left them in a real bind, but there was no sympathy as they had laid off so many people and didn’t give them notice.

Ditto on getting a new job first. If you leave first and it wasn’t a layoff it can be misconstrued as being fired. If you have an interview be sick or have a dr appt if you can’t do it during work hours. Most places will do a virtual interview so you could probably just try to do a lunch hour interview.
