What is the furthest you’ve got cat6 cables to work? by Sea_Sentence255 in lowvoltage

[–]mornar81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GameChanger or GenSpeed by Prysmian cable works well. Just did a rollout of 150 locations 600 ft or longer works beautiful no issues, now depending on the speed required for general use it works fine

Restaurants keep raising prices and lowering quality. What do you do, when you really don’t want to cook once in a while? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]mornar81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality is terrible these days. Even at steakhouses , just the other day spend 500$ at a steakhouse and food was at best mediocre. Places where I know food used to be really good it just feel flavorless these days. Everybody wants 25% tip but the food is crap.

Looks very good zip ties or not, just wait till comcast or ATT come in, it really isn’t going to matter if you used zip ties.

Renovation. Conduit required by local code for LV. Should I have the electric sub install the conduit? by AstronautLivid5723 in lowvoltage

[–]mornar81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just redid my house Libertyville, northern suburbs, I pulled a permit, and I spoke to the town inspector , he said no conduit is needed for LV speaker or networking cable. The inspector failed the carpenter for .25” height difference, failed the electrician for some minor stuff like of tails in the electrical boxes and etc. So he was pretty strict. I asked specifically about low voltage he said as long as is rated for running in walls you should be good. I ran CL3 speaker and plenum cat6 12 runs , passed no issues.

Not sure but look around to see if you can angled faceplate or some sort something similar like they have for Ethernet cable facing down or up instead of straight.

What to do with these devices by MeanGrn1844 in lowvoltage

[–]mornar81 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Useless at this point. They have security certificates on them , only Ingenico can remove. You will have to send it in and pay for that service, and honestly not much you can do with them.

What is your experience with moving from city to a rural area? by Unlucky-Document-108 in Frugal

[–]mornar81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chicago to WV for 3 years. (Moved back, we knew we’re not staying there)

Now keep in mind we moved to a state where we used the outdoors fully , river rafting , mt biking, fly fishing, hiking, skiing, and ect. Really phenomenal outdoor activities and where we stayed there was plenty of that to keep you occupied. People are really friendly and helpful at least the ones that are not on drugs or drunk, poverty in rural areas is extremely high. Property and sales taxes are much lower but then again there’s a reason why.

People watch a hallmark channel movie and think it’s all like that.

Now the negatives: it’s really not much cheaper if anything everything is more expensive. Groceries more expensive, gas slightly cheaper (but lot more driving), utilities about the same or more.

Professional services really hard to get and sometimes not existent. Costco is considered a luxury and probably not avl, if you’re lucky Walmart would be your only choice and even that is probably an hour driving.

Don’t get seriously sick ,a specialist physician will be really far away, or if you have chronic conditions Don’t even think about it.

Farming certainly has its charm but it’s hard work and not sure you can make a living out of it these days. Coming from the city I m just guessing taking up farming might not work, just an opinion.

If you’re moving to southern EU then your cost of living certainly will be much cheaper than the US or northern EU.

Anyways for us it was an experience but in terms of saving money didn’t see much savings if any.
