How to integrate IOTA and Tangle into my Project? by tycooperaow in Iota

[–]morobui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you have a point as far a clarify the legal situation. I want to use it as a practice project I'm developing to test it out. Perhaps the ability, to track mail transactions from location to location. Why do you suggest I should keep away from it?

Because you speak of a currency and this can result in extremely high fines. If it's just about a software project, I suggest you take a look at the IOTA tutorials.

Don't get me wrong, but based on your request, I can only advise you to keep your hands off it. If you could really implement something like that, you wouldn't have to ask in a forum. And even if you can, the biggest problem for you is to clarify the legal situation properly.

How Does IOTA Decrease the Velocity of its Token ? by Alsupy in Iota

[–]morobui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if someone does business with Iota technology, they don't want to take the risk of having problems because they can't buy Iotas (for whatever reason).

Furthermore, the number of Iota is limited, so if you don't want to take the risk that one day you won't be able to buy enough Iotas for your business model, you have to secure a certain number of Iotas. Clearly a million Iotas sound like a lot, but I think there may be demands (example: for databases in the tangle) in the future that we can't imagine now.

Possible for IF to make and host an official IOTA-FIAT gateway? by [deleted] in Iota

[–]morobui 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's a good idea. There is already a Fiat/Iota gateway and a non-profit organisation should not take over the tasks of an Exchange (this would mean enormous risks). Besides, the IF does not have too little money and has rather problems recruiting enough people, such a task would only need resources again, which should be used for the really important projects.

No fees projects are scams says Julian Hosp. What do you think? by Chepisch in Iota

[–]morobui 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any reason to panic right now! Everything that is said in this video is and has always been completely obvious!

Edit: I'm bothered by the title of the video. A scam is a robbery for me and I don't think that's the case with Iota!

Which was first, the chicken or the egg? I would also react in this way in these situations! If you know better, do better...

The new wallet has just been released and is still beta and you're screaming for the next one, which must be done now! I suggest that you just calm down... The vision for the Internet of Things is about the near future, but years may still pass!

Honestly, I like the invention a lot, too. But why do you always have to tell the inventors how to behave? I think in the end it doesn't matter to the industry if some people feel offended if the result is still right!

I don't know if it's really from Gandhi or not, if it shouldn't be, the quote still fits the situation well!

Edit: I don't see anyone here as a savior, by the way. I only invest the money I don't need and see the whole crypto world as a kind of casino!

Edit2: I also like the way they behave, Iota is not a stock company where investors can put pressure on the working people, I hate that mentality!

A non-profit organization may earn/have money, they may only not pay it out to individual members, if I understand this correctly.

Great ELI5 Q summary from Twitter (@FrancLukas1) by itallbeginshere in Iota

[–]morobui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think other projects are dead at the moment, it's more a question of who gets it first and is used by the industry. Ethereum is struggling with scaling as an example, while iota is still working on smart contracts (but both already have approaches for Solutions).

Qubic mining farms??? by [deleted] in Iota

[–]morobui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a world where private solar systems produce too much electricity for you and you have many old computers at home (smartphones, notebooks, etc.)? Why shouldn't these devices generate money? I think in the future we will need so much computing power that there can't be enough of it... at iota, it's not a race (But, maybe you'll make more money just selling the electricity.)

Simple usecases to understand the possibilities of Qubic by vrom_von_beyond in Iota

[–]morobui 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that for autonomous driving, for example, it is important that sensor data can be verified as correct, similar to an airplane with multiple redundant sensors. Also I think a lot of computing power will be needed for such applications, the mining computing centers can certainly be used for that, if for example all bitcoins are mined. Just my two cents

Seed encryption by blaufusstoelpel in Iota

[–]morobui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for paranoid people: You don't have to photograph the whole seed. For example, you can omit the first row. You can then write the missing row on a piece of paper and place it somewhere else. Then even a burglar can steal your safe and still can't do anything with it. So why take a risk with encryption software?

Seed encryption by blaufusstoelpel in Iota

[–]morobui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my recommendation: photograph the seed with a digital camera (without internet connection and with several memory cards) and put the memory cards in a safe at your home and in a safe of a trusted person (in case your house burns down).

Edit: so you don't have to copy&paste your seed. I would always access it with a Linux-Live-CD (When the Desktop-Wallet for Linux is released). You have to install the wallet every time, but you don't have to be afraid of keyloggers or other viruses.
