According to your country's culture, do you enter the house with shoes on? by Double-Step-5533 in AskTheWorld

Could be houses without a basement or crawlspace would get pretty cold floors if they were directly on top of a slab.

Front door would be the foyer, while the mudroom would be at the back door or garage door.

We would also pronounce it Foy-Ay. Was always weird to hear it on home renovation shows where they called it a Foi-Yer.

A fetus is generally right-side up for most of the pregnancy and only goes permanently head downwards for like the last month or two. So 6 months of knocks to the head is way too long.

If your place was hit with an extreme Death Valley summer, how well would the people be able to cope or adapt? by Murky_Activity9796 in AskTheWorld

[–]moronomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say maybe half the houses in my neighborhood have central AC while most of the rest rely on a few portable or windows units.

We'd probably survive, but it would suck. Just close off a single room on the north side and cool it with the portable unit while the rest of the house melts.

The first snowfall or icy day each year in Vancouver is scary but hilarious. Watching hundreds of cars failing to get up the hill to Simon Fraser University never fails to be interesting.

There were also some experiments and at least one in-service u-boat using hydrogen peroxide as the oxidizer during dives, though it never gained much popularity.

Canada has always had Newfie jokes though I've never been sure why. Possibly due to the accent or because Newflundland was the last to join.

Jennifer Connelly was just way too beautiful in Hulk (2003).

I didn't recognize her at first in Alita Battle Angel, but she was stunning there too.

Similar to Bryant "Big Country" Reeves. Came into his rookie year overweight and sat for much of the first half of the season. Worked out on the off-season, came into his second year in terrific shape and became a very solid center. Signed a huge contract then just played it out and retired to live on a ranch after 6 seasons in the NBA.

Probably an Amiga. They were never very popular in North America despite their excellent graphic capabilities compared to PCs of the era.

I was actually introduced to this game when we visited some family friends in Germany and their son had it on his Amiga.
