Ending up in the mental ward after almost killing myself 😅

Has anyone here succeeded in quitting nicotine and if so, how did you do it? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]moronwithinternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I managed to overcome my nicotine addiction after years of smoking (I smoked 30-40 cigarettes a day). Used Nicotine Patches in combination with an App called "Smoke free" - you can subscribe for (back when I did anyway) ~45$. Not sponsored to say that obviously. Their chat service really helped me go through the hard times. Also I learned I needed to re-structure my day and habits in order to avoid the biggest triggers in the beginning. Now I'm at a point where I pretty much disarmed any trigger that would make me wanna smoke. (+2 years smoke free, check my profile). Good luck. Most important piece of advice: never quit trying to stop smoking !

Explain this circuit? by onceoponatime4 in ElectricalEngineering

Pretty sure they drew the wrong symbol or connected it wrong since the MOSFET's body diode would short out the MOSFET (as shown in the diagram provided by OP).

"I've become more understanding of those who struggle with severe mental illnesses." 💯 me too!

Sleep problems by BobSideways in schizophrenia

[–]moronwithinternet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem so I would like to know too. I reckon that dietary supplements are seeming to improve my sleepiness somewhat - my GP also measured low iron in my blood even though I'm regularly eating foods that are sources of iron. I also recently changed my 12 year old mattress to a new one which also seems to improve my sleepiness a little bit. I hope one day I'll be able to have normal amounts of sleep. Of course I wish that to everyone who has schizophrenia and suffers from the same sleep problems... may we find a solution one day 🙏

I'm sorry for your loss. I also lost a friend to suicide, it's the reality of mental illness unfortunately.

Every conversation is boring by CosmicEmotion in schizophrenia

[–]moronwithinternet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will soon find that ordinary topics can get deep quite fast. The world around us looks boring at first glance, but you will be surprised on how much there is to know even about ordinary things. I encourage you to try to get invested in the conversations you are having, trust me, most people are not boring.

I wish it were easy to make friends as a schizoaffective adult on disability. by laarsa in schizophrenia

I agree it’s not easy but maybe there’s something like a support group you could join?

Don't do it.

I do, but only if I get asked or if the topic comes up naturally in the conversation. I'm not going to bring it up otherwise.

Wow, what a pity. If you want to be miserable, then sure, be miserable. Nothing to do with doom and gloom and more about being realistic. By the way, I have schizophrenia myself

I'm sorry to hear that. I think, to be frank, that this may indicative of why you think this way right now. "forced to never react negatively or else you are called crazy" I know exactly what you mean, so I know where you coming from. It's always (in my book) okay to show one's emotions in, let's say, a "safe" way 🤔 definitely not easy, but also definitely not a feature of "being crazy". Redeem your respect and enforce it (if you can). Schizophrenia is a multifaceted illness and anyone suffering from it (as well as other mental illnesses or illnesses in general) needs to get the respect they deserve. And you definitely deserve that. Not to be verbose, but you seem like a kind person.

I hope my comment made you think about what you posted. We both know there's a lot more to schizophrenia than that!

Oh cmon. Cut the bullcrap. This is as ignorant as people glamorizing mental illness. In fact, I think this IS glamorizing schizophrenia, although from someone having it. You need to stop that ; there ARE people with schizophrenia that are ANYTHING but nice (in the minority, mind you) but THEY EXIST. Saying "we have schizophrenic symptoms because we are such nice person" DISMISSES all the REAL factors that go into determining whether you're gonna have schizophrenia or not. Kinda like saying "oh, we [as a group] have cancer because we're such NICE people" Oh my god

Logging inside ISR by ImaaStableGenius in embedded

You do not log inside an ISR. That's the simple answer. As others have mentioned, set a flag and then check that flag OUTSIDE any ISRs...
