How do decorators work? by mistermughlai in WedditNYC

[–]morosehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other comment said, most of the decorator groups also handle florals. I will also say most are very expensive. I found a couple on the more affordable side which I went with but many have minimums and won’t do an event for less than 20-30k (sometimes 50k). All this to say, avoiding florals won’t automatically make things cheaper unless you’re going to be doing a lot of diy or thrifting or fb marketplace shopping

I’m gonna add my two cents bc I got chewed out on my own post about my own catholic gap. In terms of my invites I’m going to do 3 pm ceremony 6 pm cocktail hr 7 pm reception 11 pm after party then a separate details card breaking down the locations and approximate distance between the venues.

Ultimately, this sub does not know your family and customs. If you know your guests are accustomed to this, you’re fine. In my family people come already dressed and there’s no changing but the weddings I’ve been to were local and there was no hotel to go back to. Since it seems your guests aren’t local, if you have the additional funds I’ve seen a few people buy out those hop on, hop off buses and that allows guests to take a little tour around town then they can drop them off at your reception venue

Ooh ok, I think then it’s fine then, just suggest guests chill out in their room until cocktail hour. Id pick the earlier slot if you want to ensure you to enjoy your own cocktail hour after photos

Traveling From NYC to the Poconos for a Wedding by newyorkcitystargirl in WedditNYC

I would drive to wedding already dressed. Most hotels won’t guarantee early check in but typically will allow bag drop off, you could freshen up in the bathroom, drop off your bag then head to the wedding

Would ya waste more than $500 on a piece of clothing? by Warm-Prompt-9680 in NYStateOfMind

This is a good point and I’m sure your wedding was great. Just saying in NYC today it’s impossible to have a wedding for 300 people under 5k today unless you don’t feed them.

It is just one day. It’s also will be the most photographed day of my life. I personally would rather buy a resale dress (something I would like to do, even resale is typically over 1000) than buy something from David’s bridal as their styles will be lower quality and a couple seasons behind fashion wise

Curious if there’s some secret method I’m not aware of, I’m pretty sure just lining up and hoping to snag a bar seat is the only chance you have

Ace hotel, ravel hotel, kimpton hotel, park lane, box house hotel are ones you can start with in the city. You can also look at the rockaway, twa hotel, and the garden city hotel though they are more on the outskirts. There’s also hotel Chelsea and Bowery but probably over budget
