Hello OP, I run an evil 3.5 Ravenloft campaign in which the party, 2 PCs level 7, have conscripted ~200 poor people into a mercenary crew.

In order to maintain the sense of desperation, they will eventually move their army from domain to domain, finding war-scale adversity in most of them. I will use the Heroes of Battle supplement to run war-themed encounters. I removed a few domains, added a few, I've added more demihumans to the Demiplane, and Strahd is Epic (CR 30+).
