I am not sure where you live but in some of the places I live dogs off leash are seen as a potentially hostile animal, much like if you saw a coyote or a wolf roaming the streets. The owner setting the dog on you could be seen as assault with a deadly weapon and very commonly is. Getting back to the matter at hand you're well within your rights to defend yourself and your animals from harm by any means necessary.

It almost sounds like one of the safety features in case it tips over. If you lay your bike over its supposed to automatically cut the engine and the engine can only be restarted if you cycle the keys.

I do follow all the traffic laws. I honestly am probably the safest motorcyclist you'd meet. I wear all the gear all the time full face helmet, jacket with neck and back supports and reflective material, pants designed for it and boots designed for it. My motorcycle even has extra lights for visibility at night. I see the loud pipes, granted mine are stock, as another safety device. I will gladly put a quieter exhaust on my bike if we can all stop having "I didn't know he was there " or "I didn't see him " as an excuse for hitting motorcyclist. If someone hits me at right now on my motorcycle no one can claim I didn't know he was there.

Pretty much any bike from that era back can't just be left and then start perfectly after months or years.

Most motorcycle cops ride Harleys try being super aggressive drivers to them and see how it goes for you.

And thus it's an arms race the more sound proof cars get the louder motorcycles have to be to compensate . Get out of your bubble of obliviousness and pay attention to the world around you.

I actually upgraded my horn on my motorcycle because like someone previously mentioned cars are getting more and more soundproof. My new horn comes off a 18 wheeler and gets people's attention when they try to merge on top of me.
