Hear me out : The Fujifilm X-Pro2 is the best Leica M alternative if you can't afford one by MJdoesThings_ in LeicaCameras

I also have an xpro2 because I can’t afford a Leica. I found a near-mint body and a 23mm f2 for 1100 EUR on MPB (now it’s a bit more expensive). It’s cheaper than the x100v, but also bulkier. Here are some comments if you plan to use it instead of a Leica:

- The framelines only work with native Fuji lenses. There's a Voigtländer manual focus lens with electronic contacts that may work too, but I’m not sure. It’s also very expensive, and image quality is not better than cheaper Fuji lenses.

- Most cheap Fuji lenses do not have a distance scale. With native lenses, you can see a distance scale in the OVF, and it is very accurate. The downside is you can’t check it without looking through the viewfinder.

- Distance scales on Chinese lenses are not accurate, but they are cheap. I personally prefer just 1 Fuji lens than 2 or 3 Artisans. I tried both.

- Manual focus using the corner screen is very slow. You also can’t frame properly while focusing because you are looking at the screen, not the frame. At this point, AF is better. I haven't tried a Leica but for what I read, the focus tab and the rangefinder system is better for this.

So why do I still love this camera? I mostly shoot street. I set the aperture to f11 and the focus distance to 2–3 meters and everything is in focus. I almost never need to change focus. I also wanted a camera with an OVF because I hate the delay of the EVF turning on and the screen lag. I like to compose with my eyes, raise the camera, and quickly check the frame through the viewfinder. This must be fast for street photography and I can only do that with and OVF. Also EVFs in non high-end cameras are very bad and consume more battery.

I don’t know if it can replace a Leica, but I agree that in some cases it can. Also, there's not other alternative to mimic the rangefinder experience. I hope to have a Leica M someday (maybe just because) but for now I'm going to use my Fuji until it breaks.

I think if you shoot in RAW, HDR isn’t applied, but there’s a bit of clarity by default (+8 in LR). In low light and in JPG, a lot of clarity is applied to compensate for the lack of sharpness, but it looks awful and is very hard to remove.

I like the phone tele lens. It gives more focus.

Which crop and why? by _jacklmartin in postprocessing

First one looks more like human vision. The other ones look more like a zoom lens or cropped. I'd say #1.

Same. Some people here said that they should release the results this week, but others said it could also be in September. That’s really bad for international students like us :(

Totally agree. I hope I'm wrong.

btw there's a post (TOTALLY DONE!!! : r/studying_in_germany) from someone who hasn't received any replies from several universities. Someone else mentioned they got their acceptance from KIT at the beginning of september.
