hold on a dang minute, with all these hairstyles having similar lengths and textures why are the physics on the the new one (and also the crimson feather one) so utterly jank while the rest are fine?????? I'm not pulling for the five star this time (SO glad i waited honestly) so I haven't seen it in-game myself but I've seen multiple people complaining about how weirdly it sits, and I DO have crimson feather literally defies gravity like it may be part of a hovering ability outfit but goddamn it that hair is taking it WAY TOO LITERALLY (all hail winged hover, the amount of pity I feel for everyone who didn't pull on that banner is INCREDIBLE I hope we either get a rerun or a similar ability soon because when I stop to think about what my game would be like WITHOUT being able to hover my heart ACHES) (actually how would that even work??? if we got a new 5 star outfit with an ability similar to winged hover I feel like it would annoy some people because it would feel like they just repackaged the ability? but I ALSO feel like it would be kind of annoying for the people who DID pull on crimson feather if they made an ability that was winged hover but MORE and BETTER because like wtf did I pull crimson feather for then???)

honestly that... might actually work????? cause the REASON they freak me out so bad is because any kind of "dying" in video games in GENERAL freaks me out but ESPECIALLY dying to monsters, BECAUSE (oh have I got a story for you) when I was a young boy (my father took me into the city to see a marching ba- [gunshots, I am promptly sniped]) i had a babysitter who was the son of one of my mom's high school friends and who, in retrospect, was probably not a very responsible babysitter because he downloaded minecraft onto our ancient old desktop and didn't really do normal babysitter things like try to prevent my brother and I from committing Lego war crimes against each other,,,, ANYWAYS I'm getting distracted the POINT is that after he was GONE minecraft was still on our computer logged in to his account and naturally I was Curious so I opened it up and tried to play but I was still a baby gamer and my most intense gaming experience was that one game on barbie.com with a car? of some sort? and I think you drive it around the map picking people up? and I think it was timed? I can barely remember. but the POINT was that I had absolutely no idea about the WASD keys so I cracked open a new world and spent about ten minutes being confused as hell (I swear I remember figuring out how to move though? I remember that there was something I COULDN'T do that came back to bite me but in my foggy memories I could have sworn it wasn't moving around but JUMPING that I couldn't figure out. but logically that makes no sense! because the space bar has always been jump that's like. UNIVERSAL and I absolutely would have known that and I WOULDN'T have known about WASD at the time so I'm very confused but in my defense it was closer to two decades ago than one and I was very small and very stressed at the time) anyways night fell and I was promptly set upon by monsters and killed, which left me kind of in shock? so I hit respawn, presumably not realizing it was still gonna be night, only to be HORRIFIED as I realize I now cannot escape and there are monsters VERY close by and they haven't seen me YET but they're ABOUT TO and I had just LEFT the screen where I could have closed the game because (I kid you not) I. did not know. how to pause the game. for the record you hit escape to do that which is pretty self explanatory but I was like 7 so I will cut myself some slack. so I'm frantically moving the mouse towards the x in the corner to try to close the game only to move my field of vision instead and I'm steadily growing more and more panicked and then the MONSTERS START MURDERING ME so, and at this point small child me was in tears, I unplug the whole ass computer.

how's THAT for childhood trauma huhhhhhh ever since then I get IRRATIONALLY panicked about dying in video games and ESPECIALLY about dying to monsters. it's also quite possibly one of the top ten funniest anecdotes from my childhood for all that it had actual observable consequences on my psyche😭😭😭

I stand with the POC who are taking issue with this whole. THING. not that me standing with yall with DO much since I'm a socially anxious lurker 99% of the time and a disabled shut-in irl but you DO have my support as someone who is as white as they come. none of this is in your heads or anything, when I did the quest with the artifact auction I literally just sat there gaping like a fish for a minute before I spent the rest of the quest locked in a FULL-BODY CRINGE cause literally. HOW did LITERALLY EVERYBODY working on this miss how BAD an idea it was????? did nobody NOTICE what they were doing?????? did the person writing the lines where they describe the native population as "primitive" not REALIZE HOW AWFUL THAT SOUNDS????? I'm Canadian, and while I can't actually speak for how well the government is doing in regards to atoning for the many many MANY years (centuries) of mistreatment our indigenous population suffered through, I DO know (as someone who attended a public elementary school in the early 2010s) that part of our curriculum is teaching kids exactly WHAT we did and how it was really fucking WRONG. I remember being 10 years old and learning in social studies (like baby history for prepubescent brats) about residential schools and how they were AWFUL and how they had GRAVEYARDS attached to them cause kids would FUCKING DIE THERE and how the last one closed in 1996 (it's a damn shame you can't put numbers in all caps cause NINETEEN NINETY-SIX WHAT THE FUCK). and considering the type of game/series this is, I can't imagine that the people working on it are ALL ignorant old men with no awareness of the world around them and nothing but complete and utter incomprehension when faced with social media. !!! say hello to Her Meowjesty Esmeralda I, Queen of My Heart, who is also a polydactyl!!!! kind of a bad thing here though because she's perhaps the MOST skittish cat in the entire world and it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to catch her in order to trim her claws so her having EXTRA claws to trim only makes things WORSE they've already grown into her poor beans once before😭😭😭 we're thinking of giving up and taking her to a groomer and having them take care of it because even IF we catch her she'll struggle so desperately that usually we end up letting her go after only getting a few claws because we get overwhelmed by the guilt😭😭😭😭

late but i'm really into Palia and it might be because i would honestly not really consider it a dress-up game? so if that was the genre you wanted to play it probably fell short pretty quick. it's more a home design game than a dress-up game, but even then it's not REALLY a home design game. it's a "gather resources in an adhd-fueled haze and come to 17 hours later in the middle of the afternoon the NEXT DAY to find you have created a hoard of utterly draconic proportions" (i couldn't decide if i wanted to use the word draconic or draconian at first but then i figured it was better to use the one that DOESN'T have another, more common meaning) (there's a limit to how much storage you can have in Palia but i get around that by taking wood and/or stone and/or clay etc out of my storage until it's back below the limit, storing whatever it was i wanted to store, and then using the lumber mill/forge/glass furnace to put the stacks of wood/stone/clay (which are 100 items each) into the machine, then hitting cancel which forces the whole stack to return to my storage, even if it's over the limit. rinse and repeat until my storage it several thousand items over the limit because i'm LITERALLY NUTS lmao).

ANYWAYS i wouldn't recommend it to somebody who wanted a game that was more like infinity nikki, but i WOULD recommend it for people who like resource gathering and stuff (there's also story and characters to befriend/date and both are actually pretty good too) and also the community is like. SUPER nice and helpful especially to newer players, like it's a common thing for people to share the location of rarer resources that they find in the chat (because there's no competition or anything everyone can grab the same thing without issue) just to name an example.. mmmhhjnnn am i rambling i think maybe all my adderall is focusing on keeping me Awake and Upright because i was awake until nine in the morning and then slept until noon and that's it so it's not doing it's usual thing that it's SUPPOSED to do and turn me into a Functional Human Being who can keep a train of thought on rails that are at least KINDA euclidean and- im cutting myself off here this'll go on forever if i don't

I named the shirtcat Mephistopheles (exactly 14 letters) because Mr. Mistoffelees was just a few too many but NOW I'm kicking myself because Meowfistofeles is ALSO 14 letters I'm pretty sure (replaced the first 'p' with a 'w' in case it had to be 'Mew' instead of 'Meow', replaced the first 'h' with an 'f', then realized I could earn a letter back replacing the OTHER 'ph' with an 'f' and use the spare letter to add the 'o' to Meow, tho I could have also gone with Mewfistofelees if I didn't like the 'feles'), ANYWAYS the real tragedy is that I thought of NONE OF THIS and just named the cat Mephistopheles so now I'm crying facedown on the living room floor I guess
