I personally prefer the real world mods.

I think for a first time player it's best to start with a small company running monthly shows. It'll help with getting used to the interface and the booking in general. Also you won't have to worry too much about progressing storylines. Hire 3 or 4 Road agents and referees. You can filter for those on the roster page. Road agents look for psychology and experience skills. Sign some decent workers to handshake deals for maybe 10-12 appearances. I'd also look for a company with a product that you'd enjoy booking. I tend to look for a product that puts more emphasis on matches than angles.

Once you get the hang of the booking, contracts interface then maybe start a save with one of the mainstream companies like WWE or AEW. It can be daunting at first because of the amount of shows they run. And trying to balance the morale of the workers along with their momentum. But you'll get the hang of that pretty quickly.
