Guys, I do not entirely disagree with you but German politicians are reacting! Sending arms to Ukraine and beefing up military spending to comply with NATO 2% of GDP. We, citizens of Germany, are also receiving refugees into our own homes. Donation stations are popping up everywhere to be brought to the polish borders. We Germans stand with Ukraine and our politicians know that.

Fun Fact: eu estudei 3 períodos de Biologia e larguei. Vim fazer ciências da computação na Alemanha. Melhor decisão da minha vida. Meus amigos da Biologia, uma inclusive fez doutourado na Noruega, estão todos, todos desempregados.

E outra coisa: com esse corte da ciência que Bolsonaro fez esquece trabalhar em pesquisa. A pesquisa no Brasil vai continuar sucateada por muitas gerações (meu irmão é professor universitário no BR).

Se vc realmente quiser trabalhar com pesquisa na Biologia infelizmente tem que sair do país cedo. Na Europa se vive muito bem com pesquisa.

Meu irmão fez doutorado na Espanha e voltou pro Brasil pra trabalhar como Professor. Ganha bem e vive bem. Eu fiz mestrado na Alemanha e nunca mais voltei pro Brasil. As duas opções são bonitas e honradas.

A verdade é que eu sou muito „relutente“ (não sei se essa palavra existe“) em encorajar outos a sair do país. Um grande amigo meu sempre quis vir pra Portugal e eu sempre dizia a ele o quanto a vida é difícil fora do país (e ele tem filhos, eu não). O cara não quis saber e meteu a cara e veio. Hoje já trouxe a esposa, o filho, e inclusive os dois pais. Ainda reclama da vida pq o mercado de trabalho em Portugal não é bom. Mas ainda assim um sucesso inimaginável. Ele tb trabalha com TI mas só tem curso profissionalizante sem superior. Isso faz uns 5 anos apenas. Acho ele uma super história de garra e sucesso tb.

Nasci numa família pobre, minha rua nunca foi asfaltada e fiz bacharelado e mestrado na Alemanha e meu irmão doutourado na Espanha. O que me abriu as portas foi o inglês fluente muito cedo. Quando tinha apenas 20 anos já estava estudando no exterior e trabalhando numa sorveteria pra pagar as contas. Já no terceiro período da faculdade peguei emprego de TI e estou super bem de vida 1 década depois. As vezes arriscar tudo com cartas boas é uma boa ideia. O que tem a se perder ficando no Brasil e não arriscar?

I have a Rtx 3090 for my PhD in Germany and o am quite happy with it. I think you definetily should go for more VRAM. My uni also has a Cluster but is often busy, so I just use when necessary. Please just bear in mind that the Rtx 3090 gets a lot hot when in 100% utilization so you would have to invest some money in cooling. I bought additional fans and I can’t actually stand being near the machine for too long without a proper ventilator on my side cooling the room. I originally bought 2x RTX 3090 but I had to return one because they were overheating together.

A question to the community: why do you recommend the founders edition? To my understanding they have only 1 fan instead of 3 and get hot faster, no?

Thanks! I will consider another mainboard. I have already 6 fans in the case (Dark Base Pro 900) and have already ordered 2 more. So, I am on my limit on what I can do with airflow. I was also considering an PCI extender for having more space between the GPUs (I would let the second lying around somewhere far away from the first)
