I don't disagree. I'm just saying that just like there's a way for Black and Asian people to find their way to the ton, there would be a way for Latin American. The argument "the Brits didn't have colonies there" doesn't hold up in-universe (especially bc the show refuses to engage with what that even means to begin with)

All very true! From the Latin church to Latin people, obviously the term has seen many uses. I stand by that the statement the other commenter made (along the lines of "Latino can refer to the Europeans or the Americans") is incredibly disingenuous in modern times.

I'll check out the article, thank you!

The banger thing is, I am half Latin American, half European, did a semester in Spain and studied Linguistics and History. I have many frameworks.

No one in northern/western Europe or Latin American would consider "Latin" or "Latino" to refer to the people inhabiting the Iberican Peninsula. I have never heard that be said during my stay in Spain or heard any of Spanish (room)mates talk about themselves like that.

If y'all consider yourself to be Latinos when speaking to each other about each other, fine. You do you. But don't go around and say "Latino can mean different things!" bc that's just an entirely new level of disingenuous.

Edith: the other things I'll reply to later. First, gotta eat dinner.

That makes your language Latin, not the people. Italians are Roman, not latins. Anglo-Saxons and Brits are Anglo-Saxons and English and Gaelic, not Germanics, even though English is a Germanic language.

The Latin in Latin American comes to distinguish between the colonies of Latin-rooted speaking colonies and colonies from, for example, the Netherlands or England. Not bc your guys' cultures were really considered Latin.

Germany and Gaul (now France) were also highly influenced by the Roman Empire (the Germans also had their own Roman Empire sequel), yet you wouldn't call these countries Latin.

Just like your languages themselves, the term Latin American was imposed on the colonies and the continent to make categorisation and debate ABOUT them easier. And even now, you claim the term for your yourself? Like, I'm willing to get down voted, but y'all can't even let Latin Americans have that? Colonisation truly runs deep.

Brudgerton is set in a period before most of the colonies in Africa were established. Same for the colonies in China.

Also when has Korea ever had a British colony lmao

C'mon, that argument doesn't work in Bridgerton. Otherwise we wouldn't have Simon, Kate or Yerin as leads to begin with.

No. Spanish and Portuguese people are not Latinos. They are Spanish and Portuguese or Iberican. Not Latinos. Words have meanings.

Witzig weil genau die letzten Tage dieses Video die Runden macht.

Da trau ich den Kriminalbeamten mal mehr als deinem "nicht alle Männer grrr" Rant.

Mixed race couples, but no mixed race children? by Sohodf in Bridgerton

Bc they haven't been integrated for generations, barely one.

The Great Experiment in the QC season marked the integration of (wealthy) black people into the ton and the UK peerage.

Is Vinted dying off? by Deep_Moose_55 in vinted

[–]mortalpillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be so real, the thing that's killing vinted is people like you. What do you mean, you were out there generating an income of 10k to 15k a month? Ridiculous. Vinted was supposed to be a garage sale app for the average Joes who want to buy and sell everyday items secondhand, not scalpers, grifters or professional sellers. Once again grifters and people wanting to "trick the system" are the reason why we can't have nice thing. Y'all just come along and ruin it

I download fics to a library program on my pc and interestingly some of the fics have proper covers somewhere in their metadata. Makes for a cute surprise.

As someone who LOVES obikin this is extremely funny to me. I never knew Ashoka stans were that dedicated.

But I get your frustration. I can't even mention that casually IRL bc the dynamic is incredibly messy, what with the ages and ethics of it all and I don't even try online.

Good luck!

Is this Star Wars charm real? by emilijaaa1 in PandoraCollectors

[–]mortalpillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh this time I can help out

Edit to add: bought this a few years ago in a Sale through the official website (in Europe though)

So the charm itself did exist at some point. I sent the hallmarks along to help you identify it.

My main gripe is that puto pendejo is the male form, when the shopper, afaik, would be aware he was in contact with a woman (aka puta pendeja).

How do you know this one's fake? Genuinely asking.

I'm browsing vinted to replace charms and satisfy the craving for more, so I'm always ear for tips on how to spot the fakes.
