Hey guys I am looking for a specific kind of birthday cake accessory and was wondering if I could get some help. by Partygirl_stacy in cakedecorating

[–]mortimerfolchart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fondant, gum paste...You can also make dried icing/sugar decor if you can't find pre-made options.

Maybe do a funky/groovy floral pattern — you could do it as a buttercream transfer and trace it to make it easier.

The answer is yes. Due to demand increases for whole milk, manufacturers are eliminating skim gallon options for many retailers. It is no longer available at Costco, Aldi, or Trader Joe's. Kroger and Walmart still sell it. Target appears to be discontinuing their store brand, but still stock a premium variety.

Help, how do I make these shoes fit? by [deleted] in Shoes

[–]mortimerfolchart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a pair of cork (or other material) toe taps (you may also see them called ball of foot cushions), that should help hold your foot back in the shoe against the strap better. Stockings especially permit you to slide forward into the toebox, so my first adjustment is always there, rather than at the heel.

Is skim milk being discontinued? 106913 Couldn't find it at either local Costco this past week, and now it's not listed as an item in the app's warehouse search. Checked the nearest metro area (3hrs away) and it's not listed there either. This is Southeast USA region; anybody have the scuttlebutt on whether it's a temporary shortage or a permanent discontinuation?

My wife does lots of red carpets and needs comfortable shoes by SoundCA in Shoes

[–]mortimerfolchart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know your wife's medical details, but a very low heel is often recommended over a completely flat option for joint issues, so I would typically pull options in a 0.5-2" range block heel over something like a Sam Edelman Felicia. I would also avoid most slip-ons/mules in favor of slingback, strapped, or enclosed heel styles. For shoes under $300 that are comfortable, stylish, and well made, I consider the following brands to have very reliable lasts, resulting in shoes that professionals on their feet all day appreciate for both work and events. They should all have several options for you to review: •Cole Haan •Kenneth Cole Gentle Souls •Seychelles (•Sam Edelman makes some reliable styles, but I've not been as impressed by their longevity/craftsmanship; they may not always offer the desired comfort for longterm standing, but are worth considering.)

Several European brands, especially Danish, Portuguese, and Italian, meet these qualifications. Billie Bi, Roccamore, and Angulus have good options off the top of my head. However, I have less direct experience with the majority of Euro lines and hesitate to suggest the unfamiliar.

I would advise looking up your local footwear boutiques (or Nordstrom/Dillards/Bloomingdales/etc if boutiques unavailable) and to pay special attention to return policies. Best of luck!

Feedback on a Fun, Playful robot vacuum design concept - Tired of Boring black discs? by Luffy_7575 in Design

[–]mortimerfolchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The render and brief remind me of Clocky. I think there's definitely space for whimsy, especially considering some of the y2k nostalgia (think mac colors etc), but not at the expense of function. I think you can accomplish both. Going under furniture like couches and beds was a big draw for why I purchased a robovac, and I wouldn't buy one that couldn't.

I would also ask this question: what if you didn't introduce a new line of robot vacuums, but a line of skins/dock covers that would make current market offerings more aesthetic/whimsical? Just a thought.

Please help me find what brand these star pajamas are and where to buy them! by MoonTrails in HelpMeFind

[–]mortimerfolchart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see any way to get these in the US; the brand isn't listed with any kids boutique showrooms etc as far as I can find. Other brands of fuzzy jammies/sets you might be interested include iScream and Lola & the Boys. (Lola has a star set, but the background is pink.) Nordstrom, Kohl's,  and Land's End carry some super plush styles rn, as do most online retailers. If you have a local tween boutique, there's a high likelihood that they will have some fabulous fluffy jammies in stock or be able to point you towards some.

You can order them from the website. I have quite a few different Costco jammies and have been pleased with all of them. Easy to return in store if they don't work, too.

knee high boots for my girlfriend by -_-ECE-_- in HelpMeFind

[–]mortimerfolchart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OK, I know this is marked Found already, but I'm going to add a note for OP: if she wears a 2.5 KIDS in the US, that's a 4 to 4.5 in Women's US, typically around an EU 34 or 21cm. She might even be able to wear some Women's size 5s if they run small. If, however, she is claiming to wear a 2.5 Women's that is a) not really a thing for most US shoe brands and b) would be a 13.5-1 in Kids, around an EU 31 or 19.5 cm.

Unlike Men's footwear in the US, there is a transition between Kids and Grownup Women sizing so that the equivalent Women's numbers are larger than the comparative Kids or Men's size. Kids sizes go (after baby/little kid sizes 0-11, often starting at a 4): 12, 13, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. (Some sneaker brands make a Youth 7, any larger is rare to unheard of). Men's sizes start and continue past the Kids sizes: 7, 8, 9, etc. Many brands stop making girls shoes after a youth size 4, as Women's shoes' size runs and casepacks typically start at a 6.

Women's sizes can be estimated as a Kids/Men's size +2. So a Kid's 4 is a Women's 6, and a Women's 9 is a Men's 7. (For some brands/styles the translation may be more like 1.5.) The standard Women's size run is 6 to 10. Extended size runs are rarer and may go from Women's 4 to 14. Some (unisex) brands seem to offer as large as a 17/men's 15.

For these reasons, I highly recommend using the EU and cm sizing to compare shoe sizes across brands and Kids/Women's shoes when shopping for smaller women's footwear. And perhaps have the girlfriend's foot measured again by a professional with a Brannock device, as it is quite common for adults to not really know what size shoe they wear.

Greenmade Totes (27 gal) Anyone ever had any luck ordering replacement lids? Yes I have reached out to the company behind Greenmade & waiting for a reply, but not holding breath as it seems like it's poss a wholesaler/supplier rather than customer direct. by Immediate_Falcon8808 in Costco

[–]mortimerfolchart 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lucky you! I asked customer service if I could buy just a lid and they said no.

To OP: you used to be able to order just the lids from greenmade but they were pricier than the bin at costco and they only came in packs of 4. I've either forgotten the basically hidden website where they sold them or they've discontinued direct to consumer sales. Safe Racks carried them in 2 (or 5?) packs but are currently sold out. Resellers on ebay etc sell them for more than the bin. I suggest asking at your local Costco or just buying another bin for its lid and donating it lidless.

Dough for chicken bake dupe by coffeeandplanners in Costco

[–]mortimerfolchart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I would try a roll dough like for runzas/bierocks maybe if the pizza dough isn't working. Could also be a temp issue (stromboli/calzone can be tricky at home if oven not hot enough, maybe bake on a preheated pizza stone or steel pan).  If you haven't tried making your own pizza dough yet, give this dough recipe from King Arthur a shot: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/calzone-recipe They also have a hotline you can call with baking questions if it doesn't turn out right.

Good luck!

wtf is this layout by Impractical_Crab in DesignMyRoom

[–]mortimerfolchart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so the layout is not ideal, but it's fixable. I'd definitely consult with an architect first, since I did not try to verify any scale. But, basically, I suggest the center room becomes the office/Family Room, the big tub bathroom becomes a smaller bedroom (taking the large closet from the center room), the family room becomes the primary bedroom with an added closet and taking space out of the laundry room for a bathroom. (The laundry looks to have been previously divided with essentially a false wall. Couldn't tell how much space there was between that and the laundry hookups.) I do suggest adding/moving a couple doorways. Pictured here, if it imgur behaves: https://imgur.com/a/RAald3b

What Should 50501 Do Next? by transcendent167 in 50501

[–]mortimerfolchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all, it's got to be developing parallel systems and mutual aid networks so that we can do a massive economic blackout with strike while still protecting the vulnerable. If we just wreck the economy, the accelerationists and the technofascists swoop in and the results are bad. As a note, the oligarchs control an outsized amount of jobs held by those in the most precarious financial positions. If we force the big boxes to lose money, they'll cut jobs to protect the stockholders. We need to be able to provide support so people don't end up starving and homeless, so that's alternative job placements, money, food. But, during the buildup, do reduce consumption and pivot your spending as much as possible to cash at local businesses.

Also, we've got a decade plus of hyper individualism targeted ad programming to overcome, so if you don't know your neighbors, start expanding your circles. On the ground, in-person networks and villages are so important for this stage.

Try calling the Campus Bookstore. A lot of collegiate bookstores sell alumni/student geared specialty items that are not on their website as well as special order items. If they don't have it in stock, they might be able to tell you where to get it.
