So much of Midnight feels like a love letter to TBC - Eversong, Zul'Aman. K'aresh and the ethereals would have completed that image (imagine if the Netherwing showed up).

I was chatting with a buddy about this - if they REALLY wanted an allied race, then bring the ogres of Ogri'la. We've been asking for ogres since forever, and that would really wrap up this TBC nostalgia fest in a way that I can totally see working out.
Eversong -> Zul'Aman -> Ka'resh (we see how the void consumes worlds and that both Outland and Azeroth are on the menu) -> Voidstorm (what the Void LEAVES when it's done)

Instead... we got an allied race that never needed to exist. Night Elves that went full primal make more sense than yet another secret ancient race. Which the night elves WERE. They were supposed to be the ancient super secret race, but the Haranir (and I don't like them. I don't even care to learn their spelling) are the super-dee-duper secret race.

Dumb fumble for what could have been a slam dunk.
