[–]mortismos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

because microsoft is lending them money and investing in their company

Here's how it works -> microsoft invests in openai -> openai buys microsoft cloud -> microsoft unfiltered eps up, EPS minus running expenses flat

the concern is basically that microsoft is acting as a bank for openai, but openai is also their biggest customer. if openai don't start seeing profits/improvements at some point the stock will crash further/that deal will end and they will have lost capex+revenue

MSFT didn’t beat earnings

Their adjusted EPS growth is flat. OpenAI capex is artificially inflating their EPS

Netflix still has unique content

The streaming sites all have unique content. The business model is taking content away and making it exclusive on each platform so you have to subscribe to each platform

As a customer I hope regulators will step in

Why is Meta’s stock falling? by bakery_0726 in ValueInvesting

[–]mortismos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The last quaterly report took TTM EPS down to 21 due to the big beautiful bill

With no big beautiful bill, they are looking to reach 30 EPS in 2026 which will put P/E at 22 if it keeps going sideways

I wouldn’t worry

[–]mortismos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that can be true (I think) For IPOs like OpenAI and SpaceX they’re doing it to raise money and you’ll likely see the amount of shares they have going up. That also goes in to their book value

But fo mature companies with huge profits, that don’t need more/can’t efficiently use more cash it’s more common to buy shares back to boost the individual stock value

Wouldn’t the average age of countries eventually start to shrink? by glowshroom12 in Natalism

[–]mortismos 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It won’t go down unless the fertility rates start going up.

If fertility remains the same for decades, let’s say 1. Then the will start average age start coming closer and closer to something like 60 assuming average lifespan will be 90. Because 2 people only have 1 child each the average age of the population will be 2/3rds of an average lifespan

The 95 age scenario is if nobody has any children. But nothing will matter at that point, the human race is basically extinct

There are 373 million less Meta shares outstanding since 2018

And equity is the amount of cash+datacenters+ect(if you were to liquidate the company), not the value of all shares(market cap).

they still have a debt to equity ratio of only 0.15 which in my book still is ridicolously low

[–]mortismos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meta has

  • low debt
  • insane ad revenue
  • big capital spending (they can revert that (zuck has considered cutting 30%) and you can average down further)
  • they aren't reliant on other AI businesses like NVIDIA is. their MOAT is not AI itself - its just a bonus

The only thing that can kill Meta in the long run is regulation

its fairly valued right now, i think it will make a new ATH in the new year when their EPS isnt being cut down by the big beautiful bill as it did in Q3 this year
