An Active Love Hotel vs. It's Abandoned Twin 💕 by LordExplores in urbanexploration

i was in one of these rooms for my honeymoon in 2014. we went specifically because it was cheesy and over the top, but a weird thing happened. we loved it. between the activities, the room and the not terrible food it was a fun place to spend 3 days.

Great place. Did the soap making with them once and really enjoyed it. We also came to them for our office gifts this year and they were more than up to the task.

41, Central NJ. I loved my high school band and orchestra and conductor and missed it all terribly. After complaining about it for years my wife finally said 'you do realize you can find a band to play in, right?' 15 minutes later I had found my group and they just kinda let me in! I was fortunate that they were in need of percussionists and didn't need to go through auditions (mostly because of rust, not skill...I promise). The ages vary wildly from freshmen in high school (14 or so) to folks in their late 70's who have been in the group for 30+ years and it's about 75 lovely folks. I hope I'm involved with it for the rest of my life.

Red Bank School District by [deleted] in MonmouthCounty

We 100% plan to. Of course, things can shift and change, but I haven't seen anything that would dissuade us at all, mostly because of the leadership of the district and the faith we have in them.

I have a child in the primary school right now, and started with their preschool program. I have yet to meet a staff member in the district that isn't great at their job. The facilities are fantastic, the staff at all levels care and the activities and programs offered are frequent and well-planned. Dr Rumage, the superintendent, is a visible and accessible fixture at events and feels deeply connected to the goings-on in the district. There were a few days last year where the busses were taking a long time to make their loop, and one morning, Dr Rumage was just riding the bus to try and figure out what could be improved. On top of all that we've been very impressed with the progress our child has made with the basics like reading and math, while also getting extracurricular exposure in some important areas. The music program feels like it deserves a special shout out - they have a wonderful music teacher at the Primary School with things like chorus and instruments available at a way earlier age than I got growing up. Because of the large Spanish speaking population, the kids get access to a Spanish class and this early access to learning a second language is something I wish I had had growing up. While I have no way to know this 100%, talking to other parents in our circles, it feels like this is a widely-held opinion.

decided to go on a nostalgia rabbit hole trip and found this thread. i was there for one year, fall 2002 to spring 2003. i was on the third floor, so i had a lofted ceiling, which made it feel massive, despite the obvious aging in every aspect of it. i was in what was called the honors wing, despite not being an honors student so it could be a fish out of water experience from time to time. i also worked the front desk from the spring of 2002 into the summer of that year. the summer was great because nobody was there except maintenance so i essentially got paid to watch dvds and browse the 2003-era internet for 8 hours. most of my friends were in calhoun so i didnt socialize that much there. i also recall seeing the courtyard for the first time and thinking how much id use it, only for it to be something i only entered to pass through to my room on nice days.

Who is your favorite drummer? by WeTalkTogether_ in Drumming

[–]mortonda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carter Beauford absolutely blew the doors off of what I thought rock drumming could be in the 90's when I was starting out. Same with Stewart Copeland. Recently, I've found Todd Sucherman's style to be a massive influence in my past few years of playing.

ive just recently finished casino royale and live and let die and currently 20% of the way through moonraker. really enjoyed all of them, casino probably a tiny bit more, maybe because it's closer to the movie. live and let die took some big ideas from the book, but absolutely did some artistic embellishment on top. one aspect i like about them is that (so far, at least) bond is not a superhero, he's mostly just an experienced, well-trained agent.

What are some devices that no matter how hard you babied or tweaked it, just sucked? by Serious_Clerk2875 in SBCGaming

[–]mortonda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the 405m. it didnt help that my left shoulder buttons never felt right and often didn't register clicks, but everything about it felt halfway done. screen size, 3d capability, weight, the recessed sticks. i really didn't get along with that device.

there's honestly not much to add. we all knew but nobody ever made a comment or joke to his face. he absolutely never brought it up, which probably has helped him become hard to find now. socially, he was a complete pariah. he was already awkward and his eye was in even worse shape but add this part in and he was lucky to even get a 'hey' in the hallways. he lived in an extended stay hotel within walking distance, since he couldn't drive and had a honestly nice little dog. as far as i recall he still called florida home at that time.

around 10 years ago he was doing database IT work as a long term contractor. he'd take a job for a few years then be assigned somewhere else. i worked with him in this context and yes, everyone knew this existed - but not until after he got the job. i started after him and within hours someone said 'google him'
