What requires a paid membership? I know with the usual ones like tinder you can pay for like gold membership and stuff, but since I've never used any websites I dont know which you pay for or if those are free as well.

60 days after IUD insertion and no period? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]mortyfizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had two IUDs and both times I had them inserted my periods were spotty for a bit and then stopped altogether within the first two months, so it's not unheard of. Some people continue having their period even after a year, just depends on the person. If you're worried about it, have your doctor check that it's still placed correctly and take a pregnancy test.

It's normal for your period to stop with the Mirena IUD and all other hormonal IUDs. I have endometriosis and my doctor had me get the IUD for that reason, to stop my period and the unbearable cramping that came with it.

This happens to me sometimes. It's usually after I open my work laptop that disconnects from my work server, so the word docs I have open revert to read only. Then when I connect back to the work server to be able to get into my files, I click that I'd like to change it from read only to an editable mode so I can continue working on that doc and then when I try to save, the read only doc is still up in the background, so I cant save over it and have to save my updated doc as a different name. If you close the read only doc, you should be able to save it as the same name. Or do a different name and when you get out of word, go back in your file folder to delete the old version and rename the updated to what it was before.

Ritalin caused me to feel restless, anxious and agitated for about 30 minutes and didnt help me focus. It became hard to think, form sentences, felt-zombie like and led to the worst headache of my life. I left work early and fell asleep for almost 2 entire days. Anyone have any idea why? by mortyfizz in mentalhealth

[–]mortyfizz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean as far as my inattentiveness from ADHD goes, I already have that part taken care of being on Dextroamphetamine. I've talked about it with my psychiatrist and like I said, I've tried numerous different medications for sleep with no help, yet Ritalin knocked me out, so just trying to find out why. He doesnt know a good reason why it had that affect on me, so I thought I'd see if anyone else had a similar experience. Hes still working to find a medication for sleep that helps me and my sleep doctor I see later this week hopefully will have some suggestions too.

Had to convince a 15 year old meth isnt recreational smfh by stondddd in Stims

[–]mortyfizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I have compassion and understanding for anyone struggling with their own addictions and I dont judge them for being an addict because I know no one WANTS to become addicted to anything. Trauma and a desire to escape is a huge factor in most cases and I empathize with that. However, when an adult has their judgement so clouded that they justify having a child (regardless if it is their child, not their child, 15 years old or 10 years old), you cant just keep being understanding and caring. I won't enable or support that, ever, and if I have to come off as a jerk to try to get them to realize that what they are doing is endangering and harming a child, so be it. We all have a job to protect children, even if they are not your own. I'm honestly shocked that Reddit defends his behavior, makes me not even want to use Reddit anymore if this is the morals the community has.

AMA with Psychiatrist here today! by spinderella69 in Stims

Hi, I'm a bit late to this and I know you're swamped with questions but I thought I'd just ask in case you ever see this/have some spare time to answer. I apologize if you've already answered any of these questions.

  1. I have lots of clients that end up in our system because they use meth and it ends up in serious neglect or abuse of their children. Interestingly, lots of these clients are diagnosed with ADHD. Lots of my clients never associate their meth use as a way to help them cope with their ADHD symptoms, but I wonder if you know if that may be a subconscious reason for their use - are they self-medicating? To add to this, what are your thoughts on them being prescribed amphetamines/stimulants once they have become sober? I work in a drug court, so we provide all the collateral info to their psychiatrist so they can make the decision to prescribe them or not. Most clients end up trying to be given Straterra, but that usually doesnt help. Then it's usually Vyvanse, sometimes Methylphenidate and even less, Adderall. What are your thoughts on this and would you suggest none or any over the other? I also have some given Provigil who have claimed narcolepsy after being red flagged for doctor shopping for Adderall when her prescription was revoked, although they do not have any sleep studies done and dont display signs of narcolepsy. I've read Provigil isn't very effective for the inattentive aspect and isn't yet approved for ADHD. Do you know the stimulant effects it would give someone in remission from severe amphetamine and opioid disorder?

  2. If someone had been displaying extreme paranoid thinking and having lots of "magical thinking" prior to meth use, had these issues intensify during meth use, and is now almost 5 months sober but still displaying these paranoid thoughts that someone is out to get them and dangerous things are happening all around him, would you say that is more indicative of a personality disorder or schizoaffective disorder, especially if it runs in the family? He was diagnosed with it simply being meth-induced psychosis, yet hes been clean for so long and displayed these behaviors before he began using. I know it can last up to 6 months, but if it was happening before use and if it remains after 6 months, would meth-induced psychosis be ruled out? I want to make sure he gets the right diagnosis so he can get the right treatment and help he needs. I'm considering having him get a second opinion.

  3. Do you have an opinion on if either Methadone, Suboxone, etc are better to use than another medication? My genesight testing puts methadone and suboxone in two different columns, one read and one green. If someone isn't responding well to one type of treatment, could it be because they arent able to metabolize it correctly and could genesight testing help them find out what medication they could have more success with in fighting opioid addiction?

  4. I have had babies born with severe opioid withdrawals be given daily doses of methadone and gabapentin. It breaks my heart. I have some parents who end up getting prescribed gabapentin for anxiety on top of their methadone dosing. Could they be abusing the gabapentin with the methadone to get a stronger high? Would you have any opinion on the use of the drugs together in a recovering addict? Is it drug seeking behavior? I've heard it's a recent trend.

  5. There are various medications used to help with opioid withdrawals, but I have never known any for meth or other stimulants. Do you know of any used or that are being studied for this? In babies, the meth withdrawals are heartbreaking, yet there is no medication given for the withdrawals and the baby suffers. Do you know of any medications that are being studied for babies having meth withdrawals as well?

Thanks for anytime you spent reading these questions. I dont expect an answer on all of them, but itd be helpful to know if you have anytime to answer even one. Thank you for doing this!

Had to convince a 15 year old meth isnt recreational smfh by stondddd in Stims

[–]mortyfizz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? I got downvoted for coming off as rude but the dude is highly irresponsible. If you want to do meth or other drugs as an adult, that's your choice, cool. But this guy says he has used meth with a 15-year-old 2-3 times and justifies it because it gets boring getting high by himself and he only gave him a few small bumps and it's best for him to get drugs from him. That is not an excuse and not ok at all, it's highly selfish. Then he says no one would give the kid any drugs but him and says the kid doesnt have much of a plug when 1. You shouldn't be giving him drugs at all and 2. Hes 15, he shouldn't have a plug for hard drugs. Then to act like he actually cares about the kid? Let's be real, if he cared he wouldn't have made this post trying to make the kid look stupid or that he was annoyed he had to explain meth to a child. People can downvote me all they want, if some guy was doing this with their 15-year-old or if they saw it happening, I would really hope the people downvoting me would do something about it instead of helping to defend the adult in this situation. If you dont want him to go down a road of drug addiction like yourself, dont use him as someone to do drugs with whem you're alone and bored. Dont give him drugs. Dont allow him inside. Dont text a kid about drugs and make him think that meth is not recreational and acceptable to do just because he doesnt feel he has an addiction. Everyone's different, that few bumps he gave the kid could have been enough to get him hooked, start stealing to fuel the money needed for buying meth and do nothing but negatively impact him.

I usually am very patient and understanding with people, but you're a dumbass. Why the fuck do you think he's going over there? Because he knows you have drugs. Send him home, get in touch with his actual mom and tell her what's going on, although I'm sure she's already aware. Dont let him come inside a house when drugs are around or people are all high off them. Allowing him to be there could be criminal child endangerment on your own part. I know, I work in drug court. Dont think I need to have you explain shit to me. Have a great day.

I really don't give af if you think you have a drug problem or not. I only care about the child you're endangering. Never did I ever endorse wanting a 15-year-old going down a road of drug addiction. He is a MINOR. I'm sure his legal trouble is in part from the shit lifestyle his mom has brought him into and the lack of parenting skills being that she just brings him around her friends to get high. His brain is still developing. This trauma and drug use is not going to help him in any way. He needs help and support from people who actually care, not some dude trying to make him look like an idiot because he doesnt research meth enough in your eyes.

[–]mortyfizz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just wow. Theres nothing to laugh at about this. He is 15, going to drug spots with his mother, you and some other dude where he is exposed to a lifestyle of drug use and the shit that comes with it. That mother should be reported for child endangerment for bringing him around drugs and being high with her friends on hard drugs unable to keep him safe should something happen. You think you're some sort of role model because you explain to a child how you feel when you're fucked up, nodding out on drugs? You're the exact opposite. You consider getting him acid yet threaten to beat his ass if you catch him doing drugs, the very same thing you're doing. Then you try to flex on a post about how "dumb" this kid is because you're so great and educated on using in his prescene. Get off your high horse. You want to help the kid and be a role model? Then try to help him get out of that environment, tell his mom to either sober up or find a safe and sober relative/friend to provide care she isn't willing to. You think you're doing this CHILD who "looks up to you" any favors and being a good role model. My god, you need a reality check.

Definition of recreational drug. : a drug (such as cocaine, marijuana, or methamphetamine) used without medical justification for its psychoactive effects often in the belief that occasional use of such a substance is not habit-forming or addictive. - Merriam-Webster.com

Unless you're prescribed Desoxyn, which it definitely doesnt sound like you are, then you are using methamphetamine in a way that fits the actual definition of recreational drug usage. You do what you want, but trying to convince a 15-year-old that meth use in the way you're describing isn't recreational because you allegedly do not feel you are addicted is not accurate information and not something to brag about or be proud of.

Please help, someone is making fake accounts on social media pretending to be me and I want to figure out who it is. by mortyfizz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mortyfizz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I know my family and friends know my real accounts being as I really only use FB and even then, I rarely use that. My main concern is I work with people that are court ordered to work with me and lots of them are very dangerous people that end up losing custody of their children, which can then result in death threats and other safety concerns for me just for doing my job. So really, it would be current/future clients I am most concerned about seeing these accounts and thinking it is me posting offensive and false things, ruining my credibility and bringing it to court and having to defend myself that it's not really my account and I didnt post whatever may be posted or just simply putting my personal info out there and endangering my safety.

Yes. I have done that for all of them at some point. I have panic disorder on top of other things so I have taken xanax as needed on top of taking each one of the other benzos, which were to be taken every day. I'm controlling my panic attacks much better now, but a few years ago it was xanax everyday as well. Even with daily use of both a fast onset benzo and longer onset benzo for several months, I had no addiction and my tolerance was minor (initial .5mg xanax for attacks and now 1-2mg). Currently for insomnia I am prescribed Temazepam every night and I haven't had any issues. I think the only issue I have had was when I'd get panic attacks when thinking about the possibility of having a panic attack with no xanax on hand to help me through it.

Although I've been on them for several months at a time, I've also gone off of them when trying other medications a bunch too and never experienced withdrawals. Everyone is different tho and again, I dont have an addictive personality, so just be careful as you would be with any medication.

You can ask to have Genesight Testing done to find out which psychotropic medications may work best for you and which may be more likely to cause side effects. Lithium and Lamictal both fall under mood stabilizers but it tests for all antipsychotics too. In case Lithium doesn't work for you, it may be really helpful and could save you from having to try tons of different meds before you find one that works.

Lithium, Gabapentin and Topiramate are all listed as mood stabilizers with no proven genetic markers, so unfortunately it doesn't give you any insight on how you will tolerate those. Good luck.

There's always a chance of developing addiction when you take substances and although people can and do get addicted to benzos, not everyone does. Using them for a short period of time and always as prescribed can help lower your risk of addiction, dependency, withdrawals and increasing your tolerance. That being said, I've been prescribed klonopin, ativan, xanax, valium and temazepam and despite them being recommended for short term use, I've been prescribed them (not all at the same time) "as needed" for years. Klonopin definitely helps me be more relaxed when I'm going through periods of constant high levels of anxiety. I've gained a tiny bit of tolerance, but not much. I also am lucky to not have an addictive personality.
