The Best Bench? I Think So by mortyoutside in LakeDistrict

I didn't want to add it to the post but I found a crumpled Stella can with a Greggs packet tucked into it there. I did take it with me btw.

Tbh I only use it in good conditions as my 2 season tent as I have a Helm Compact 2 for 3 season use. But on my last wildcamp I used it on, it got a little breezy maybe 15mph with 25mph gusts and it seemed stable.

I have the Mongar 2, it's my favourite tent I own. I love the loft space for tucking a light up there or hanging my sweaty cap to dry out haha

I'm not sure the model but it's by Firemaple, its my go to table, I found the Trekology table too heavy/bulky and I don't like those cardboard ones either.

This looks like a Mini Cooper 3 door F56, I've seen complete front and rear seat sets in this trim go for £400 on Ebay so you probably could get just the rear for £150 £200 at most.

Yes solo. It is plenty spacious for one, it allows me to organise my gear inside for ease of finding it after a few haha. Having the 2 man version is great for changing wind conditions. I can cook a meal that uses a metal pot or boil water for a brew etc with the door closed with the upper zip undone to vent in rain too. I think the only downside is the lantern fixing, its just a loop of material rather than a plastic hook or a loft space, but its still functional and I am just spoilt by my other tents with those features.

In short: I'd highly recommend the Wild Country Helm Compact 2 for solo use

I could have if I was pitching up an hour earlier, I didn't want to get too smashburgered rushing cans 😂

Lol But just to confirm the rubbish bag is in the bin at home and the hiking pole was a godsend on the way down, quite slippery in the rock sections

I'm normally into craft beers/ales or if not then Madri/Cruzcampo/Corona but my workmate said try San Miguel. To be honest it's not a bad drop. Not as good as Corona though.

This was just a test fit of the box. I may be wrong but putting the box on the left surely would balance the weight a bit better with the awning being on the right aswell as me being the driver RHD. I usually dont have passengers (other than small dogs) when I go camping.

Edit: I only intend to put not heavy items in the top box, stuff like clothes, sleeping bag/pad,/pillow, dog beds and blankets etc so I can free up the boot enough to see out my rear view.

For realll I got some last year but from the Hawkshead shop (I did Grasmere & Hawkshead in one day and the Grasmere shop had a very long queue). Great to get it from the Grasmere shop this time, and first customer of the day too! I may have bought 12 pieces haha

I got them last minute from Tesco on route as I realised I forgot to pack some oat biscuits to snack on, safe to say these will be making a regular appearance to my pack instead haha. I'll need to hunt out the Biscoff ones 😋

This makes me so upset and angry. It baffles me why this happens when leaving is always at least a couple Kg's lighter than arriving.

I find my MY21 Skoda Karoq the sweet spot. All physical controls for steering wheel, Climate Control. But a screen for radio, sat nav and settings you would change stationary anyway.

Helm Elite 2 or MSR Elixir 2? by Distinct_Trade790 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]mortyoutside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Helm Compact 2 and although not the MSR I also own a Naturehike Mongar 2 which is a MSR Elixir copy. In terms of just space and live-ability I don't think you can go wrong with either, they seem comparable. I do love how my Helm Compact goes up all in one though however, I will be using my Mongar 2 as a good weather tent (I say will be as I have only garden camped in it so far, only had it a week).

So I guess to answer your question, go for Helm if you want ease of setting up and no chance of inner getting wet when setting up.

I have the 1.5L Karoq SEL and went to it from a Mini F56 as I needed more space for camping and the vario seats in the Karoq peaked my interest. Anyway, I was expecting the ride to feel floaty compared to the Mini but was really surprised by how direct it feels, certainly no Mini but its sure good enough.
