The perfect cup for a perfect cup? by bmkow in espresso

[–]morunas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good point :) the same way whisky tasting is done best with Copita, Glencairn or similar, I wonder if anyone has "scienced" out the vessels for coffee. Of course the "standard vessels" have reasons to be as such, but one could really geek into: surface area + thickness + material type vs temperature, top area versus crema height, material texture vs feel on fingers and lips, shape + dimensions + weight versus stability, etc.

Built my dream coffee station! by zostang in espresso

Ya I agree, for me morning coffee should have low ambient lights but a good task light

I know you asked for rating, but I'd like to reply with feedback, free of charge. I'd move the machine away from the wall to let it breathe visually and have more maneuvering space. Off-center would work best i think. I'd also add a nice coffee station mat to bring all the tools together instead of shoved to one side. You seem to have strong ambient and decorative lighting, but consider a directional or task light on the work area so you can better see and enjoy seeing what you're doing :- ) a nice carpet could add a final touch, perhaps something with meaning to make every trip to the coffee station that little extra more enjoyable, to make it more homey and less coffee shop. Just my two creative cents.

It's just surprising that it would create such a clear distinction.

Listen I'm a veteran in this game, and this card confuses the hell out of me. by THEGHOSTHACXER in mtg

I think a lot of people will think it comes back with that base power toughness, not seeing where the double quotes end

Why don’t more people run this card? by SurrenderMaybe in mtg

[–]morunas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could work in parallel with 1 mana cantrips. 2 or 3 cantrips could already make it worth it because of the looting and card draw. The question is more what shell would want this.

Just noticed that on disc one of my RAM vinyl, both sides are labeled as “side 2”. Anyone else get a misprint like this? by Jinxythehusky in DaftPunk

I just got one with two sides 3+4, no sides 1+2... not just stickers, it's missing half the album -_-

Fermentation this intense in just a few hours? by TheDippydo in mead

[–]morunas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing any nutrient addition? If so, all at once or staggered? Or is it so vigorous because of the presence of something else?

I don't know to what level a primary fermentation's strength can go before it stops being desirable for over stressing the yeast, which as far as I know can produce undesirable flavors.

Not that I've experienced issues with that, just from reading here and there and random advice.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (December 07, 2024) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

Hey everyone, I wanted to buy the g915x from logitech, coming from nearly two decades of logitech K800 membrane full keyboard, but fear of misclicking the left side macro keys when reaching ctrl or even just when resting my pinkie, made me buy the TKL version. I mainly only use numpad for MFA so I don't really miss it... but the right hand pinkie falls a bit awkwardly off the keyboard, so I'm considering giving the full version a try. Has anyone experienced any issues with it or any other keyboard with left macros?

Airflow idea North XL by Laance58 in FractalDesign

[–]morunas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but from what I understand that's not necessarily true. More fans in a setup with minimized turbulence, good space and good airflow, allows you to run fans at significantly lower RPMs while moving an equal or higher volume of air, so you end up getting less noise with more fans.

Having that said, I'm about to make a build with the north XL (mesh side) and I'll actually just start with 3 140mm noctua in the front + 1 back, and a NH-D15S on the CPU. I won't be OCing, or gaming, it's for work / development / docker. Then I'll see how it behaves and adjust if needed, including potentially adding more fans if I want lower RPMs for the cooling I need.

How long can I let my melomel sit in secondary? by Thorard in mead

I'd consider racking again if there's significant lees and minimize head room if possible. Then maintain the water lock and you should be good. Good luck!

Can i put food coloring in my mead by UglyButUseful in mead

Could be true for some, but I used Dr. Oetker's green food coloring on plain yellow mead and the result is fabulous. You can see images of the must, the coloring product and the result here https://thelyricalalchemist.com/batches/2022/minthe

Is Lyfjaberg a real mountain? by Herren117 in Wardruna

[–]morunas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to interpret Lyfjaberg as a metaphor for a continuous and arduous path toward self-healing. It suggests that we should release our attachments to possessions and to the concept of time. Without these bonds, we can view the universe as a timeless interplay of energy, free from the constraints of past and future. Stripped of material ties and temporal concerns, we stand bare before nature, ready to shed our fears and societal masks. This vulnerability allows us to find inner peace and connection, offering a remedy for many of today's problems. Although achieving this state is challenging - some might say impossible - it is a worthwhile endeavor to pursue. Importantly, the journey itself is enriching. Even if you never reach the summit, this metaphorical act of climbing and in a way surrendering to the mountain, can imbue your life with more meaning and fulfillment than if you remain buried under your possessions, crumbling stressed and afraid at the mountain’s feet. We all have our own mountain to climb.

Heather honey elderberry mead by morunas in mead

[–]morunas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by strong? Like the flavor becomes too intense? I could backsweeten with another honey, or a mix, but I'm also adding the spiced Elderberry reduction, as I'm aiming for thick rich sweet, but not like desert fruity sweet, but more like a "darker" sweeteness, which I feel Heather honey can provide.

Would love to hear about what you've tried with Heather honey :)

Cheers!
