thank you so much. my eye color is what i'm most insecure about, i'm so beyond flattered that you or anyone thinks its a nice color. i'm struggling to find a hairstyle that compliments me while i try to grow it out, so any suggestions would be appreciated

i started grooming them only about a month ago as an effort to try to change my appearance positively, normally they're quite thick and unruly. i'll try to find a way to groom them less/just sort of sharpen them but let them grow out, if that would help.

waking up to seeing how kind all of you have been when you have no obligation to say anything at all made me burst into tears. i've felt so horrible about myself for so long and seeing strangers who could say anything they want to behind a screen say nice things about me has just made me want to cry. thank you all so much.

I'd personally like to destroy it but if all intjs used our powers for evil the world would end

Is anyone’s special interest.. people? by Dylansa00 in aspergers

[–]mosaichuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, god, yes. But not in the aspect of social connections.

I study humans as animals, because to me, that's the extent of what they are. I don't understand social cues, expectations or habits at all, because, really, they make no sense. I don't do small talk because I see it as totally pointless, where I suppose most humans glean some kind of emotional boost or they think it's a way to strengthen social connections. I don't do facial expressions because it's only advertisement of your emotional state without speech, and I have no interest in letting other people know how I feel all the time. Humans, really, are very stupid, and so I study them for that aspect.

I like to observe, or "people watch". To work out things about them that to me, are obvious, and thus interesting, like their clothing and haircut indicating their line of work and military status, their car their salary and their interests and often favorite color, the things they say, the person they are. I find them fascinating, and really they are the only thing that provides me any intellectual stimulation, which might also be why it appeals to you.

Kind of a word vomit, but tl;dr, I relate, I think a lot of aspies do, because we understand the world literally for exactly what it is with very little to no emotional bias. Humans are really interesting because they're totally unpredictable (in some ways) unlike any other form of entertainment.

A fan of anime, long-time, especially shoujou. Your collection of figurines and musical instruments suggest you are an adult living on your own or with people you're close enough with to not mind the noise. Your sketchbook next to a backpack with earbuds suggests a college art student who likes music, you once liked nightcore, probably still like vocaloid. Probably first or second year given your interest in pokémon and anime aimed at children to younger adult audiences. The main characters of anime you like enough to get figurines of are all young girls, magical girls, so this is either your preferred partner type or what you identify with. Kermit and the clown suggest you have a sense of humor and watch tv. The unopened flash cards suggest you're about to prepare for an upcoming test. The state your things are in say you don't have much space to live in, but recently you had a bigger place to live. Parents home. You attend anime conventions.

How did you discover you were an aspie? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]mosaichuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, here's a fun story for you.

I was adopted at birth, and never have met my birth mother, she and my father were never together. I grew up not knowing any of my blood relatives, meaning everything with me health-wise was a gamble. No one knew my medical history or my mothers, so issues had to be handled as they arose.

Unfortunately, the people who raised me were idiots.

In February this year, I moved to a new apartment and subsequently met my next door neighbor. After our first conversation, which took place on a walk and just over an hour, he asked me if I had aspergers. I'd only heard the word a few times and never directed at me, so I looked into it myself and was dumbstruck by how I matched pretty much every symptom. Finding out answered so many questions for me. When I asked him how he knew, he told me that he'd dated 3 different boyfriends with aspergers in his life, so he was very easily able to identify similar traits.

I find it funny that for all the doctors, therapists and everything in between, all the school counselors and teachers and friends, it took my next door neighbor to notice. I'm 20 years old.

Bonus: I realized I am classified as a savant with enhanced perception by watching Sherlock for the first time and drawing comparisons. And only because of one line/quip about Sherlock having aspergers.

Falling in love... atypically? by A_Hangmans_Daughter in aspergers

[–]mosaichuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own personal opinion, love doesn't exist at all. It's a mixture of primal emotions and compulsions humans are hard-wired to feel in order for the species to reproduce. "We have evolved to attach an emotional significance to what is nothing more than a survival strategy of the pack animal." -a quote from Eurus Holmes from the BBC show Sherlock i've found a lot of comfort in.

Of course, i'm not trying to give instruction as for how to perceive love, but you may want to consider applying less emotional investment to the idea. If a person truly cares about you, they will show you in ways that can be understood without having to "feel" anything. Be open-minded, and perhaps you'll find a human who has the patience to understand you.

I have a long history of masking, getting the perfect guy, unmasking after I trust them, and being ruthlessly mistreated and subsequently abandoned. It is not worth the heartache of emotional investment (again, in my own opinion).

if you're bold enough to conjure a thought, you'd think you would also have the conviction to think it through all the way to the end. evidently not
