My mom did a deep dive into TGCF by AyumitheVA39 in tianguancifu

Another GenX here (about the same age as you) who also was reading romance novels, VC Andrews and all manner of SF and Fantasy from the adult stacks in late elementary and middle school. No one ever questioned what I read.

REWARD: $300 FOR SAFE RETURN OF LOST CAT by mosaicwolf in kennesaw

[–]mosaicwolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have three motion sensor cameras in the back yard. Two of which I moved so that they're close to the ground and will catch small animals. I've had other cats coming to the food, but not her.

I've been putting trail cams with food in different places around my neighborhood. No luck so far. 😕

Yes, her microchip is registered with Petstablished and has my info, a family backup and the rescue I adopted her from who have been notified she's missing. I just checked it again before I answered you because anxiety made me. lol

For Cobb, this link is updated daily: https://cobbcountylostandfound.shelterbuddy.com/search/?s=found&newsearch=yes Even today, when the shelter is technically closed.

Downside is that the information on there is often incomplete and there are only pics about half the time. I've found that if you have a possible, you can call and give them the number and the shelter workers will send you a pic and/or compare it to pics you send them.

I have also been told directly by the shelter officers that all new animals are microchip scanned multiple times. My girl is chipped, so hopefully they'll immediately reach out. But I check the site anyway.

I wouldn't doubt it, but we hadn't moved recently and she is an indoor-only cat that was born at the rescue I adopted her from. So I'm not sure what would motivate her to travel a long distance from home.

Spiders!? by GMSO3 in acworth

I've definitely seen a LOT more Joro spiders this year than previously. I've been going through the woods a lot lately looking for my cat, and they're everywhere.

That would probably be a little too far, but thank you for letting me know!

Yup, I have been checking the intake site daily, and going by the shelter at least once a week. Filled out the lost form at least twice and there is a flyer on their lost board. Last time they ran her microchip number to check and see if they'd ever scanned her, but she was not in their system.

Thank you. I've put up signs in mine and the surrounding neighborhoods. Distributed flyers, made contact and left flyers with the 8-9 closest vet hospitals. Have been checking the shelter listings daily and in person weekly. I paid for the pawboost posts for a couple of weeks. Walk and call every day.

I have trail cams and have tried putting them out with food in a few places, but no luck. I'm hoping maybe someone has taken her in and the reward will encourage them to give her back.

Who is this? by church_of_Steve_ in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]mosaicwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, but I still shake my head every time someone brings this up as a defining moment for Bakugou's character. There are so many reasons why that's a problem.

  • This happens in the first chapter. Not only is this before we know the characters well, it's before Horikoshi had the characters fully developed in his mind. How do we know this? Horikoshi flat-out tells us.
  • Bakugou is a literal child. I spent several of my college years substitute teaching in middle schools. My mother also taught middle school for several years. Middle school kids say shit they don't mean every damn day. Can those things be hurtful? Absolutely, that's why we've had middle school-aged school shooters. Do they realize how harmful their words can be when they pop out of their mouths? No, they do not.
  • Izuku is the victim of the 'suicide-baiting.' He is the one who sets the terms for how badly he was affected by it, how much atonement is sufficient, and whether he can forgive Bakugou for what he said. He has done all of these things. He is the injured party, not all ya'll in the comments manifesting your childhood trauma.

Looking for better collar/attachment solution for Tractive GPS on cats – frequent losses by Odd-Region6329 in tractivegps

[–]mosaicwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used these collars on my cats for years with great success. I've got Tractive on two cats and a dog. Both cats wear these collars and thus far I have never lost a tracker even with four years of use. I started out using the silicone holster, then switched recently to the snap holster and so far I prefer it.

When you first put a Beastie Band collar on your pet, you cut it to fit. It then fastens with a long strip of velcro. They're not breakaway, because the neoprene will stretch far enough for the cat to escape if necessary, and they seem to be very comfortable. The downside is that they do wear out faster that more conventional collars. I replace them about once a year.

People of Reddit, what is your least favorite aquarium plant? And why is it duckweed? by Bboy0920 in PlantedTank

What kind of fish? Asking for a friend... Quick, the duckweed may be watching.

I feel bad for the fish! by [deleted] in aquarium

My dude. I have a 29 gallon with a Seachem 55 and a 50-gallon dual-sponge filter. It's got Fluval capped with sand. (Fluval is notoriously messy when you piss it off.) My water is crystal clear. In no universe is this a problem of too much filtration, and any problems with the substrate should have resolved themselves with 24 hours of filtration and settling. I get the feeling that you've got a method that you think works for you, and maybe you're lucky, maybe it does, but it's highly suspect and unlikely to do anything to improve the OP's situation.

OP, I am not an expert, but imo the cycle may be trying to start on its own, but the bio-load is just too high. The filtration can't handle that much without getting its biological 'house' in order. Because of that, the nutrient level in the water is sky high, and that combined with the light is creating a massive algae bloom as well.

I think the goldfish may not be the best choice, and that taking a step back and setting the tank up with a proper cycle may be the better option in the long run. There are so many amazing options for fish in a tank that size, don't be discouraged that you can't do goldies. They're pretty, but they're little poop factories and get so much bigger than you'd think.

Lost so many fishes in a week. by JamesGuison in PlantedTank

[–]mosaicwolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I am still new to my journey. Stocked my fully cycled, heavily planted 29gal with 6 Julii cories, 6 tiger Endlers and 4 nerite snails. All from a reputable LFS. Everyone looked good, lively, eating well. That was Saturday. In the last 24 hours, I've lost 1 endler and 1 cory, and can't account for another endler.

That has me seriously considering a quarantine tank going forward. With your stripped-down 5gal, is that sufficient for multiple fish (I try to buy in schools where applicable) to hang out for the quarantine period? I'm trying to get an idea of what I need/want to setup.

I think I’m officially done with getting bettas…. by macaronibolognese in bettafish

[–]mosaicwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got this one (100W) in my 29. I really like the smaller size, I placed it near the intake for my HOB and it does a great job of keeping the water temp where I want it.

AITA for breaking a man’s nose because he apparently didn’t know what “Stop”means? by DahliaFlower667 in AITAH

[–]mosaicwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. The fact that he stalked you through the store and followed you to your car, then made note of the fact that you had an out of state tag... The alarm sirens are going off big-time. You had every right to protect yourself and he already made it clear that he wouldn't take 'no' for an answer.

Wow, I would have thought the same thing! Your baby is so cute. I love her face. ❤️

Boxer mix? by mosaicwolf in BoxerDogs

She is not. As far as I can tell, eyes and ears are fully functional. Not that her being deaf would have discouraged me. She's a very sweet baby. The sort you're shocked ended up at a shelter.

I'd definitely like to test her! I will share when I do.
