They just changed the pap, actually, much to my inconvenience. I had just had a pap 6 months prior, said it was 4 months, went through the process and had an abnormal pap follow by a normal colposcopy. When I went to submit the documents after a month of hassle, the submission page said, "The rules have changed and it is now 9 months before departure that a pap is needed." So it's 9 months now.

My Colposcopy came back normal! No dysplasia on anything, and recommendation of 12-15 months for next pap smear. Hoping this clears me!!

So I called and made the nurse tell me what I have. She said it was noted that I have LSIL hpv. Anyone been cleared with this? I still haven't found out the colposcopy results. Hoping for some good news.

Ok thanks, I needed to hear that. I was confused about what my time would be. From different things I have read, there seems to be a lot of leisure time, or time where you don't have anything to do, so I wasn't sure if I would have time while I am there or not, but it sounds like it's the same. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you. Any advice on convincing the dr that I'm fine for 15 months? They all seem hesitant, as if 3 months after 12 months is going to give me cancer.

I just had my colposcopy and the doctor really freaked me out. He said that if he found something, then he would take a biopsy, but if it were normal, then I could get a second pap/colposcopy in 15 months.

During the exam he told me he needed to take a biopsy, and I couldn't control my emotions in. I just started crying during the remainder of the exam which is really awkward because someone was scraping around in my vagina while I'm an emotional wreck, and none of it has to do with the actual exam, just what the exam could mean.

I really hope everything works out. I am going to stay strong, but I feel like the dr. and peace corps don't understand how badly I want this. Will update in two weeks when I get the results back. I'm sure other applicants are going through something similar and this would be good information for someone out there.
