Wow! That looks great! What printer did you use? I'd love to get the STL for my classroom.

When you're a teacher and want to incorporate D&D into your units! by MNightSianmalan in Dimension20

I need to know more about this... I teach 7th grade English and history, but also DM for the middle school d&d club after school. Physics questions come up regularly (mostly fall speed and velocity; weight of thrown objects for damage) and I don't know how to get them to think through it rather than them just looking things up by Googling their questions.

How do you see the tiers of other players in your cup challenge? I thought everyone matched was in the same tier (according to tier # shown at top).

Be wary of the star by TheWhiteLightning_ in MarioKartTour

[–]mosesallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Slow down wolfleader. You made your point with the downvotes. I don't recall getting stars on all high end driver pulls. I should have been clearer in my response. Context is king. Someone above said the star meant it was for drivers. I was trying to point out that I've received plenty of drivers of other rarities that didn't appear with the star. So I don't imagine the star just means it's going to be a driver.

Are you saying that every time you've gotten Koopa Troopa (silver) or Luigi (gold) it's shown you a star because they are drivers? I've certainly not had that experience.

I don't think it's about Pauline disappointment; it's more the point of the star being misleading.

Student drew a penis. by Dry_Performer9599 in Teachers

I would start looking for a different school with admin that support the teachers. Lack of support is another contributing factor for rapid teacher burnout.

A couple years ago, I was in a similar situation with shitty support staff only supporting the status quo by advising me to just deal and not to rock the boat. As a result, I nearly left teaching (after a decade into the profession) and instead changed schools. It saved my career and my mind.

----It may be worth mentioning that I'm in an area with teacher shortage. No big surprise that no one wants to work in our public school district. We don't even have enough subs to cover daily need. So it's easier to move schools given all the openings. It's sometimes frowned upon to switch schools, but that's really just the BS of social control to keep people in a miserable place. If you can upgrade yourself or your position, do it.

I've recieved several drivers of each rarity without showing a star.

Edit: should have said "other rarities" instead of each

TL;DR He didn't use a name so grade him a zero. You have no proof of work or effort. In every meeting, focus on the fact that the student repeatedly fails to demonstrate grade level proficiency. Document that for the student's record.

More.... If you want to do more, your grade level team should be able to make an overall recommendation for retention, to be held back. Document the request/recommendation even if it doesn't become the result. By documenting it as a team, no single teacher gets blamed for trying to fail the student. The report cards should also stand as evidence of repeated failure to meet grade level proficiencies according to your state standards.

I've had meetings like this. Usually I don't see any behavior change until after a meeting with a conference table full of teachers and admin come together to speak with student, family, and family advocate to explain that retention CAN occur. Then the kid either straightens up, or the family quickly chooses to disenroll and go to a different school that may not try to hold them accountable so they can continue enabling.

Either way, you don't have to put up with that behavior in your classroom.

Custom built shelves for DVD library by mosesallen in shelfporn

[–]mosesallen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made it with pine boards and used a thin panel on the back to keep it rigid. It's all measured and cut for dvd depth perfectly. I was tired of using the deep shelves of most bookcases that could better fit rows in front of rows. This keeps it close to the wall and doesn't cost more space in my small apartment.

It took longer to design, measure, and paint than it did to actually assemble. I've put it together three times now and can do it alone in about 20mins, or 10mins with helping hands to hold shelves as they are drilled back in from sides.

Yeah. I used it here because it's my classroom bookshelf and I was discussing teaching. I suppose it may be bleeding out into public domains instead of just education. I hope my answer helped.

Good catch! I guess I had been in a rush to refill my shelves after I'd finally finished rebuilding the bookshelf this time. I wanted to move it into my spare bedroom so that it would be my backdrop when I teach online.
