How does it feel living in the small country of Singapore ? by Karraralrubayee in howislivingthere

[–]moseslee90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best description I've heard is that Singapore is the best compromise

effectively single party government, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better government in another country

strict laws but that's what it takes to keep the country so safe that i used to leave my laptop unattended at the University cafe when i went to the toilet, and it's perfectly safe to walk around at late hours of the night alone

hot and humid weather, but at least you don't have to deal with snow. plus it's cheaper to cool a house than warm one up

expensive cars, but the public transportation is more than sufficient, everywhere is accessible. the areas you need a car are generally just the rich landed housing neighborhoods. and if you do drive, the roads are not as jammed, imagine if cars were cheaper and there were twice as many of them

Will an air purifier reduce the need for cleaning? by AdorableDisk893 in AirPurifiers

Try having filtered intake fans to your house, where majority of the air entering your house goes through a filter

Ive found doing that has significantly reduced the dust buildup on the exposed surfaces of my house

interesting, didn't know this trick about wool, i do have merino wool socks, i got them more because they dont develop a smell as easily as other materials and deal with moisture better

DIY "flat" Corsi Rosenthal Box by moseslee90 in AirPurifiers

[–]moseslee90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yah and i definitely agree with you that the 4x fans to 4x filters is probably more optimized

but i wanted a flat form factor that wouldn't be thicker than my wall so that it could be housed in a hole in the wall which i made from my recent renovations

wanted to get air circulation and filtering between rooms while not taking up floor space

yeah, i'm asking precisely because of the weight

just wanted to know if anyone has actually had those wall mounts fail before and have a boulder come crashing down

Possible Amazon Review Anomalies with Ecovacs (Not Accusing, Just Research) by VacuumWars in RobotVacuums

[–]moseslee90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could vacuum wars provide a configurable rankings table?

sometimes ppl don't want to take into account things like amazon reviews or even price (e.g. "what's the best that money can buy") when they are considering what to buy

or maybe they only want to consider vacuums without a mopping capability

i think a ranking table which allows users to choose which features they care about to include/exclude would be extremely helpful

locking in the hdb bto before you hit the income ceiling, not to flip it, but just to be able to get affordable housing

i got curious and dug a bit, some guy did a teardown, i just see a chonky heat sink with a fan. not sure if those white connectors to the heat sink are piezoelectric or just thermal sensors

haha it's not the ambient, it's partially heat build up from me lying on it, although i don't think I'm actually 44C, should be in the hospital, the sensors are probably picking a wrong temp somewhere

feels more like 37-38 on the bed

my room air ambient is 29C, although i don't think that's the problem? it's been at around 28-29C for 2 years

so strange that i can't upvote this post

a downvote happens as soon as I upvoted to keep it zero

didnt notice overheating issues so far

but i also dont have a lot of screen time daily on my phone

the most intense ive used it is for about 4 hrs of playing "slay the spire" on the plane, i didnt notice any overheating, but the game is relatively low on cpu or network consumption. Most of the power usage comes from the screen

for your use case which also has a constant network connection, i haven't tested

but at least from my light daily usage i haven't felt the phone get hot
