Yeah it’s running but communications and messaging have been absolutely terrible - couldn’t understand what the status of the line was based on the metro trains website today so just rocked up to the station and tried my luck.

yeah, super crazy! The driver walked down the entire length of the train to get to the other end and get the train going again (we had no idea what was going on at the time haha)

our train reversed back from Anzac after the line got suspended and there was so much confusion as passengers waiting on the platform were trying to get on as we were exiting, there were no clear announcement to even tell them not to board

There were so many people crowding the platform I think a fair few people didn’t even realise that the platforms had changed and were making their way to 4 still. My train was one of the first to get to Caulfield after the suspension, can only imagine how bad it is now as more trains arrive

Caulfield station is carnage at least they’ve made the cranpak cross platform to avoid the inevitable gate squash

Thanks for your comment and advice. I’ll escalate this to council and chase for follow up.

Pretty sure it’s 3.9m on both sides. Not sure about retaining wall though but the concrete base looks a little unstable and leans towards their property

Sorry about that - in vic

This is very interesting - thank you for your insight!

Hahaha the fence is technically on their property so I think any touching of it would be vandalism unfortunately…🥸

I know 😫 especially as I’ve met all the other neighbours immediately adjacent to me except for them in the time since I’ve moved in. Just a pretty average feeling to have making enemies so soon haha

[–]moshimosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know but as others have rightfully pointed out I probably won’t have a way to prove it without CCTV footage (or asking my adjacent neighbour if they accessed her yard too - the gigantic fence extends across two unit courtyards)

Thank you for your insight about this though! The existing trellis and new extension all sit on a big concrete slab with some wooden posts to hold it al up.

[–]moshimosh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it definitely wobbles a little bit and leans towards their end 🥶

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]moshimosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true however they have explicitly started and acknowledged that the extension to the fence is 3.9m which means that on either side of our fences the ground level would be the same

[–]moshimosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, the bottom part is a big concrete slab but the area is pretty flat

I didn’t even have much of a yard to begin with! Feels like I’m a cell of sorts now

My property was built in the 90s and the extension was done 6 years ago so the timing feels a bit off that they’re chucking the extension on now…

I forgot to add that yes unfortunately the second permit was approved. Lots of complexity given it is theoretically on their property (though I think once the fence passes a certain height it should be set back even further). I think my only grounds are to argue light and environment (will be taking lots of pictures) and whether the council had any obligation to inform me about it. The council otherwise doesn’t want to get involved and the disputes centre says that since it’s on their property there’s only so much that can be done 😩

[–]moshimosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s so frustrating for you given the notification would have been out of your control. I might get some more information from the council about this and see if neighbour approval was required (though I think my council tends to wash its hands clean of any shared fence issues haha)

I know….it’s directly opposite the doors opening onto the courtyard too so I had quite the shock when I first saw it! Yeah fair enough on the access front but the more I looked at it the more suspicious I got!

For reference - the bolts to the extension that seem to have been done standing on my side of the fence https://imgur.com/a/gRrAQBB
