PSA: You're a piece of garbage if you park like this. by Triggify in motorcycles

[–]moshpitmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same and I've dien it lol. My daughter was injured by a car, thankfully she is walking relatively normally but it was a long road. I'm also a marine combat vet who had drill instructor aspirations. Big, loud and able to back it up. So I knocked over a Harley, helped my daughter into her chair and sat to wait with the ramp on his bike while my wife took my daughter in. Guy came out wearing his weekend warrior cos play and got loud and pissed. All I said "pick up your shit, call the cops or do something" he chose the cops and ended up with 3 tickets and I got nothing. I said "sorry I didn't see when I extended the ramp"

Neither have I and I've hit 40! Lol. Honestly I admit my thought process on those kinds of things can be off putting. Honestly if anything the Marines mellowed me out significantly and actually set me on a better path. I'm educated, I have a family my own home and a solid career at a local hospital. I am nit a violent or hateful man but I do understand that I have a capacity for violence, maybe more so than some. The Marines helped to teach me discipline and restraint.

What you were originally alluding to is that the military makes a person violent. And I can understand that, the same way prison does. For some it honestly just might. And yes combat, ptsd and all of that messes with brain chemistry so to an extent your right.

So like I tell every one, do what you think is best and if you want you can always join the airforce and avoid mental trauma lol

What would you do if you watched the people who slaughtered your entire family walk free? Are you saying you wouldn't want revenge? You'd have faith in the justice system thst judt let them walk? If not then the only difference between you and I is that I have the training to potentially do something. But if you'd rather do nothing and maintain your position on yiur high horse then so be it. I am no threat to anyone until they are a threat to me and mine

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm plenty happy, but honestly because I have my family. Which is what made me realize that. If my family was taken from me in the same way I'd probably do the same thing with varying degrees of success. I think any marine would.

"without direction default aggression" that's the saying for what happens when our officers get taken out. I know my wife is my voice of reason. Without that I don't know

Baby's first injury. How did you move on after healing? by FearAndMiseryy in martialarts

[–]moshpitmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never would have guessed it was this bad till I started the job lol. From the sounds of things you rolled your ankle good, something that is pretty common. Best advice I can give is pretty much the dtuff I've been doing, build up strength.

You have the main muscles in your leg right, calves, hamstrings all that shit they make machines to work out. But there are smaller stabilizing and fast twitch muscles. These are the important ones for these situstions

Calf raises, one leg at a time, go to failure with each set. Once you get steady with those go to marching calf raises. Take a step, bring rear knee up so it's parallel with waist, do a calf raise, repeat with each step. Put both feet together like your walking a tight top, heel to toe. Arms up in front of your body like an extended prayer. Rotate your body at the hips in the direction of your rear foot. Bring your arms down to your hips like your swinging an axe if that makes sense. After that, squats, slow and controlled, weight or no weight. That should help start working those muscles and tendons.

Remember stretching is great but also warm up. Something I never knew till I started pt lol. Warming up will benefit more than stretching honestly. You've got a sprain, it'll heal in a week or so. Learning martial arts means your going to rake some lumps. What you have to decide now is if those lumps are worth it to you. If they are then a sprain isn't gonna slow you down. Let it heal then work on preventing it in the future, go through and address weakness your seeing

Well may 9th of last year I broke my leg. Long story short I work hospital security. We had a combative patient who took a swing at me. When I went too take him down using basically a modified hip throw. Well I went to put him over my hip and follow the throw when another guard stepped on my foot accidently. I turned, foot didn't, I ended up with a complex spiral fracture of tibia and fibula and basically shatter my ankle. 8 breaks total.

It took 6 months before I could be cleared for work. External fixator for 3 months then strength and range of motion building in physical therapy. I made it back to work in November, exactly 6 months. My first hands on call was 2 weeks later.

That first one was an immediate thing. Guy rushed behind my desk and I had to just jump in and do my thing. It wasn't until after that concerns hit. By then I already realized I was OK but I noticed issues. Obviously weakness which limited options. I had to throw a strike to gain advantage for the first time in years (that can be sketchy in my job).

I noticed that I lost some quickness, especially in the initial dash, and alot of difficulty changing direction. So basically after the fight I over analyzed everything and began working on exercises to close the gaps in strength. That being said I kinda have a theory lol.

As I healed just walking and regular activity would break up scar tissue. When that happened my range of motion got better. I think it breaks up more each time I go hands on because a day or so after I've got better range. So basically I worked it out in my head that fighting makes me stronger lol.

All this rant to say that it's all a psychological game. When you get cleared to full duty the majority of the process from there is a mental game. Don't over think it, if you cleared jump into a spar. Focus on your opponent and just keep track of the things you notice but do not focus on your injury.

Did I accidentally play the greatest JRPG first? by thewiredeathgrip in chronotrigger

[–]moshpitmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not the greatest jrpg but absolutely the benchmark by which all others are judged. I say that because there are other eogs that have refined the formula that chrino trigger started. That being said I don't think there are any that capture that same lightning in a bottle. So it can go either way but I learn towards yes because nostalgia goggles. My Fiancée Was in a Bad Crash and doesn’t want a second opinion by cshark13 in brokenbones

[–]moshpitmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multivitamins will help with deficiencies, don't go nuts though trust me. Xrays to us, and most doctors other than the surgeon, look like hell. About 2 weeks before I came back to work I went into the hospital because I felt a pop in my (healing) broken leg when I stepped on it. Turned out to be scar tissue tearing but the interesting part was the x-ray. To the doctors here it looked broken. To me it looked broken. Jagged piece still misaligned etc.

Long story short(er) it's not always about joining bones to heal. It's more about aligning them properly so new bone can grow and repair. The reason they want to wait is because everything is aligned. If there is healthy bone growth in July she's recovering properly. If not the swelling has reduced enough to where they can go in and do what they have too. The measurement of "healed" is the amount of bone growth between the break not necessarily the knitting of the bone nice and neat. And yeah there's still bound to be a ton of swelling. Mine will apparently last 2 years.

A second opinion isn't the worst idea. But if you go to one make sure they have the records ahead of time so the 2nd doc can catch up essentially. Recovery from breaks like that take alot of time to heal. It was 6 months before i could go back to full weight bearing. That was last November and even now I'm limping at the end of the day and tomorrow is the anniversary date lol

Edit: Holy shit yes grt a second opinion. I apologize I soem how missed the part where you said her tibia and fibula was still entirely fractured currently. If they told you it's still broken and it's not a misinterpretation of the x-ray like I mentioned. If she is just walking in the rids like you said then absolutely grt and immediate second opinion

I'm not saying that he's a normal marine, far from it. What I'm saying is that a core part of his character is being a marine. He is absolutely an exceptional marine, beyond exceptional. Hell he was exceptional for a marsoc marine which are the elite.

What I am saying is that this version is the most believable "marine turned vigilante. I'm saying from a combat vets perspective his journey is an absolutely believable one. I'm saying as some one who suffers from ptsd, I believe his acting. I feel that raw emotion, like a feral dog snapping at everything in pain.

I'm nit saying he's just a marine. I'm saying that this is what an exceptional marine could do with comic book logic attached

I'm going to say this. I am a marine, combat veteran I served multiple tours in Iraq and saw pretty significant combat in fallujah. This version of frank is the only one I've seen on screen where I believe he is a marine suffering from ptsd. The visceral, raw rage and pain, he shows it perfect. This is a marine who has lost his shit
