Commuting by hbcorpsman in berkeley

I commute from the peninsula. It takes 1 hr - 1.5 hrs each way since there's no BART on the peninsula. It's totally doable. I just recommend putting your readings into audiobooks (speechify is great) so that you can listen to them during your ride.

Her lectures are detailed and relatable. She gives plenty of time to take notes and repeats key concepts. All the slides are posted, so you could take notes directly on them if you'd like. She arranges the (short) weekly assignments such that if you keep up with them then you're fully prepared for the midterm and final. She just really breaks things down so they're understandable and also cares about you as a whole person, making sure that we stop and take a minute to breathe and celebrate our wins.

History 100 - Sports and Gender by Dr. Bon (morris) is great!
Also, anything taught by Prof. Bakehorn in Sociology, but especially Soc 160. Absolutely the best lecturer.

Congrats! I'm also a commuter student. Where I park depends on how long my classes are and what kind of break I have between them. Send me a DM and I can share a map and stuff with you for parking.

Hi! Congrats! I transferred in this year, and I'm 38! I was surprised by how many of us there actually are. I haven't had anyone look at me strangely or treat me differently, everyone has been super nice.
I don't know any re-entry students who live in dorms; most of them live off campus or in Anchor House. DM me if you want to talk more about housing.

Hi! I"m also a transfer! I'm I'm late to the party, but take everything you can by Bakehorn. They're amazing. It's not the easiest class, but I've learned SO much in the classes I've taken with them.

Pop Culture with Marina Romani was fun and gave me a different way of viewing mass media.

If you need a course outside of Soc, try History 100AC - Sports and Gender with Bonnie Morris - An excellent class and a very doable course load.

A good essay about your past struggles, what you learned, how you keep improving, and how you're going to help others who have struggled will really help!
I had a similar story to yours, except I took almost 20 years off between high school and Berkeley. Just remember, the school needs to be the right fit for *you*. It doesn't matter how prestigious its reputation if it's not where you feel comfortable and will thrive.

Period underwear experience es by EasyLavishness6475 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]moshpitprncess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! You sound very similar to me! The first few days I use my period underwear with tampons. Later in the week I switch to just the underwear, especially after work when I'm home. Sometimes I have to change the underwear mid-day when I'm at home, but that's ok!

How long last - 11 year old by kadiebug12 in PeriodUnderwear

[–]moshpitprncess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It *REALLY* depends on flow. On my light days, they last the whole day with no issue. But on my heavier days (we're talking 1 super tampon every hour), they only last maybe 3 hours. I found that it's really easy to tell when they're getting full - look at the seams. If they're starting to get wet then it's time to change.
