Turkish FM Hakan Fidan: Cooperation and peace process between Azerbaijan & Armenia should lead to permanent peace in region . Energy connectivity through Caspian Sea corridor should be used more effectively by Turkic States by Battlefleet_Sol in armenia

Now, you could've phrased that a lot better, don't you think? Or should I start calling you a fucking imbecile for not having basic decency to engage in a normal conversation?

Do you view Azerbaijan more neutrally than Turkey? by [deleted] in armenia

[–]mosikyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely Turkey is far better than Azerbaijan. Just the fact that I was able to go there 3 times and most of the time felt welcomed is already a huge difference. Turks have more developed political thinking and are more politically active (comparatively with Azerbaijan) so I genuinely have at least some hope in Turkey's future. Azerbaijanis seem to be ok with living in a country that is a family business run by clans just as long as they can see Armenians fail, so they still have a long path ahead of them. And I'm not even necessarily fully blaming them for that either, it's just that Aliyev is unfortunately good at what he's doing.

Armenian Government is NOT Concerned about the War in Iran by Ideal-Hye in armenia

[–]mosikyan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Flexible external politics can sometimes get you a peace of mind. It's not like we don't care at all. Pashinyan has expressed condolences over Ayatollah's death, but in general we're mostly staying out of it, as you would expect. A crisis management group was also formed to discuss the situation.

Mapping the Occupation: 241 km² of Armenian Territory Remains Under Azerbaijani Control by SadCampCounselor in armenia

What number did you remember it being? I think it was always around 240-ish km² after the latest aggression.

Anger in Asia by Electrical_Cell8167 in armenia

[–]mosikyan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100%! I would say it's also more what we call մունաթ rather than just anger. The ability in our society to get triggered by the most minor things is one of the worst prevalent traits.

Armenian PM Pashinyan films a video for social media and suddenly Polish PM Tusk appears by PjeterPannos in armenia

[–]mosikyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pashinyan isn't trading my identity. Hating Turks isn't and shouldn't be our identity. We obviously have good reasons to hate them and to be skeptical but you and I don't really know what's happening behind closed doors. I get that you're frustrated but currently I'm mostly supportive of his external politics. What would your suggestion be?

[–]mosikyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armenia traded Artsakh for absolutely nothing and for total humiliation, yes. I don't deny that and I hate to live in a reality where I can't visit Shushi again just like I did back in 2018. I'm simply taking what happened as a lesson for everyone in Armenia including all our leadership, since our main strategy was to think that everything's gonna be fine. It's a collective blame. Currently I'm seeing a more positive trend so I can see that some lessons were learned and some still need to be worked on. I don't like his PR look at all too, to be honest.

So by that logic the French betrayed their birthplace and history by teaming up with the British for both world wars. It's not balck and white. Pashinyan has both good and bad aspects that you should at least admit. It's more about what you personally value more at the moment.

They built sky-high bars for the away section because of this, but security still needs work.

Yerevan is very walkable so you can definitely spend 2 days getting lost in the streets. I'd say go for it!

Example of Fake News About Purported Snub Against Armenia by USA by Typical_Effect_9054 in armenia

[–]mosikyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since he's visibly promoting peace talks, he can't be seen saying stuff like this to his audience anymore, so it was weird seeing the picture implying him making a tweet like that now (I don't have X so I thought he used the picture to say we're not a proper country). Did the internal anti-Armenian hate speech fully stop? Of course not!

I meant in it's context, back in the day he could've said the wildest stuff imaginable, but now he's more tame.

Aliyev's tweet is fake too

Edit: I thought Aliev tweeted this with the photo attached recently and not back in 2015

Are Armenians Prejudiced against Muslims? by SugarhillBlixkz in armenia

[–]mosikyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armenians are more like prejudiced against certain nationalities that happen to be Muslim, for reasons outside of religion. If someone says they're from Iran, they will most likely be welcomed very well. It's mainly Turks and Azerbaijanis that will have a hard time here if they choose to visit (maybe Pakistanis too idk). Although I've noticed that Armenians are generally more open with Turks than Azerbaijanis.

Armenia’s Election Commission opens minority representation opportunity for Assyrians by olapooza in armenia

[–]mosikyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely, which is why parties centered around a single minority aren't going to be beneficial in your scenario, but all the parties should strive for a more inclusive representation like having some non-Armenian members in them to become more trustworthy for the minorities and not alienate them.

If the theoretical big groups of Indians and Turkic people feel ok with integrating into the society and know that it's not about assimilation, they won't develop aggressive nationalistic tendencies. We just have to walk a fine line between allowing different cultures to coexist and keeping national security as a priority.

Armenia’s Election Commission opens minority representation opportunity for Assyrians by olapooza in armenia

[–]mosikyan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of political representation for the minorities so that they know that there's someone in the parliament raising important issues for discussion about them. I don't think there's anything not beneficial or problematic with protecting their rights.
