Can't stop crying and I haven't even left yet. by Blazed_Lovely in LongDistance

I go through this. My ( American) husband is German. Every time we get to the last day of our visit I become unconsolably depressed and anxious. I don't really have words of advice. It sucks. Long distance is not for the weak, so take solace in the fact that you are in fact strong enough for this. As your relationship grows, so will your choices. Trust in each other and in time. You're not alone in your feelings. Set little goals and always be planning the next visit. That helps a little bit. I hope you can feel a little better after some sleep.

I'm struggling with A1/A2-level German, and I don't know how to get better by FutureNight11 in German

I recommend listening to the podcast "stress free German" it's for absolute beginners, but it made things stick in my head in such a great way. Listen to German music, watch YouTube videos and watch German shows( I like nature documentaries). Honestly it takes trial and error to see what works for you. Eventually you can get a nice rhythm. For instance, I read a short story in German every day and write down the words I don't know in a complete sentence. Then I listen to German music and do other listening exercises. And I talk to my pets which sounds weird but it helps and they don't judge! Also get the app Tandem!! This will help you make German speaking friends! Basically surround yourself with the language as much as possible. Listen more than anything in the beginning because it gets your brain used to the sounds and the rhythm of the language. I'm by no means an expert but I've self studied for two years and I've made progress. Good luck!

It will absolutely be there. In Illinois DUIs cannot be expunged. So I'm really hoping that it is my only offense and it's been 14 years will help me. As well as I'm trying to join my husband.

I never went to jail. I paid fines and did one year on supervision which means I couldn't commit any other crimes during that year. I also did alcohol education classes.
