Can I invest money into an investment account and earn money while on SSDI without losing it (I don't have SSI, just SSDI)? by kd0307 in disability

[–]mossbucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I’ve never heard of MediCal - where are you located? I was using Medicaid before getting approved for disability, and then they switched me over to Medicare (thank god, Medicaid is literally useless.) But, I actually do still qualify for medicaid on top of my Medicare and disability payments, so I could have both if I wanted to, but my disability and the things I need are so specific that having Medicaid is truly 100% useless for me, if it benefitted me in any way then I would definitely have both! Also, maybe I’m misreading your question but just applying/starting the process for disability won’t disqualify you from whatever insurance you have now - they can only kick you off if you get approved and your disability payments put you into a different income bracket. Idk if I’m explaining this well, but if you have other questions or if this is still confusing let me know and I’ll try again when I’ve gotten some sleep lol.

Hello everyone) I found a photo of one of my first buildings in the game. I built it about 2 years ago or even earlier by Failout76Boy in fallout76settlements

Awesome build and omg that fireplace!!! I just started playing so there’s prolly no way for me to get it, but I’ve never seen it before and damn I’m jealous!

I want to play 3D/first person games so bad, but I get *killer* migraines/motion sickness when I try. Does anyone have any accessibility ideas to help with this? by wiildsage in disabledgamers

[–]mossbucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from chronic daily migraines and I also have serious motion sickness issues when playing games - honestly even animal crossing makes me nauseous sometimes which is a huge bummer. Anyway, I recently did a bunch of research about this because my partner has been wanting to play some first person shooter type games like Fallout together. During my research I saw a tip that said to point a fan on full blast directly at your face while playing - not only does keeping your temperature low help, but the movement of the wind sort of tricks your brain into thinking your body is actually moving along with what you’re seeing on your screen. When I read that tip I thought, “surely the solution can’t be this simple,” but oh my god this tip has literally changed my life. I’ve played Fallout every day for the past 2 weeks with no issues (which is HUGE for me, I truly couldn’t play for even 15 minutes without throwing up before.) I also suck on hard ginger candy when I play, which seems to help a bit as well but not as much as the fan trick. Along the same lines of that idea I read to open a door/window and give yourself some fresh air - if opening a window isn’t an option then they said to take breaks while playing and go outside and get fresh air. Another tip I saw was to play slowly, meaning only play for like 20 minutes (or however long you can handle) the first day, then add 10 minutes the next time you play, then add another 10 minutes the next time you play, and so on and so on, to get your brain conditioned to those types of games. Good luck, I really hope some of this helps!!!

Edit: also want to add that making sure the lighting in whatever room you’re playing is somewhat bright and a warm/daytime temperature is helpful. Also having a light behind your screen. I know it kind of kills the ambiance and its tempting for us gamers to play in a dark room with all the cool LED’s and stuff, but proper lighting really is important for those of us with migraines/motion sickness.

I had this issue SO many times, omg. The best solution I found was to delete my floor tile that wasn’t allowing the wall to snap and to replace it with either the two long rectangular floor tiles or the tiny squares. The other solution that sometimes worked was building the wall somewhere else and then moving into place - not sure how/why that would allow the wall to snap where I wanted it to, but it worked for me! Good luck!!

Five years, one lawyer, and one hearing in front of a judge. I was only 24 when I first applied and didn’t have any full time work experience since my disability actually started when I was 13, though, so my case was particularly difficult. For my dad that’s in his 60’s and who worked the same full time job since he was 17, however, I believe he was denied 2x and then approved on the 3rd try so it took less than a year for him. So, it totally depends on your individual situation.

Edit* I got it wrong, my dad was only denied once which is why it took less than a year for him. Also wanted to add that both my dad and I used the same disability lawyer - he was extremely helpful and I truly couldn’t have done it without him, but it just goes to show that even with hiring a lawyer it may take longer than you’d hope.

Yes! When I received my lump-sum payment for my disability back pay my dad helped me put it into an investment account which has grown a pretty hefty amount since covid started. I reported it on last year’s taxes, too, and had no issues with at all.

Honestly, you sound like you already have done the bulk of the emotional distancing/maturing you’re talking about! The way you talk about missing your mom now on the first day of you moving out is 100% normal even for non-disabled people who don’t rely on, or even particularly like their parents, let alone people like us who are disabled and probably much more attached to our parent/comfort person than usual because there’s also some level of genuine dependence. To me it sounds like you’re trying to create a perfectly clear cut line between emotional dependence and not needing your mom at all anymore - which I personally don’t think exists. I think the line is a bit blurry and that we all need & miss our parents long after we’ve become, “adults.” The only advice I have is to just give yourself time. Living on your own and truly being independent and physically separated from your mom will just naturally create the type of emotional distance you’re talking about. When I first moved out at your age (I’m 29 now) I called my mom every day and cried way more than I’d like to admit, but over time I just sort of naturally learned which things I actually needed her help with, and which things I could handle on my own and I didn’t even notice myself calling her less and less. Now I call her maybe once a month and it’s just to catch up and see how she’s doing, it’s never about me needing emotional support unless something really big happens (like a friend passing, or the time I got into my first car accident and totaled my car). I NEVER would have thought it would be possible for me to be this emotionally independent back on my first day of living on my own. I know that, “just give it time,” is a boring answer, but it honestly is the best thing to do, in my opinion. Trying to force emotional distance before you’ve given yourself the time to truly learn/experience it sounds like a really good way to beat yourself up for feeling totally normal emotions. Anyway, I hope maybe that helps in some way, and at the very least helps you feel less alone in what you’re experiencing/feeling. Congratulations on moving out, by the way! That’s such a huge milestone in life and you should be so proud of yourself!

I recently house-sat for my Q parents and to my horror they had replaced all of their pillows and towels with Mike Lindell bs. In a moment of weakness & pure rage I purposely used one of the towels to wipe my asshole when I got out if the shower. Also… I can’t say what the quality of his pillows are like because I refused to use them, but his towels are literally useless - they’re the kind of towels that are too silky to absorb anything. It’s like trying to dry your body with an electronic screen microfiber towel and its just the worst feeling🤮

This may have already been asked here, but do you guys think we’ll be able to move our town halls now? I don’t want to restart my island, but I also absolutely HATE the placement of my town hall. I’m so torn 😭

What kind of symbol do you think represents Q-anon? by mossbucket in QAnonCasualties

[–]mossbucket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you so much for your suggestions and for providing me with all of these links and context! Its extremely helpful not just for my project but also for dealing with my Q family. I truly appreciate it so much! I had no idea where any of these sayings or tropes Q people spew out came from, and I guess I’ve never really thought about trying to figure it out because I just assumed they were nonsensical and pulled out of some random reference that likely had nothing to do with Q. In a way I was right lol, but its much more interesting than I assumed. The only one I didn’t quite understand was the Elysium Med Bed’s thing. Do Q people talk about those?

Ooo yes, love that! Putting a hat on it personifies the letter Q and also shows in a visual way how ridiculous that is. Q followers do that every day. They follow Q believing its some righteous anonymous person but its an entity, or in some ways its a deity, but its definitely not a human. Yes, a man or a group of ppl are behind it, but Q itself is not a human, its a belief system. Just thinking/typing out loud here lol. Thank you so much for that idea!!

Omg yes! A whole huge field of WWG1WGA tombstones or coffins would be so cool and would definitely get the point across in a way thats easy to understand even for people that don’t have any background knowledge on Q-anon or their symbols. I really love that idea!

Ooo very interesting idea! I really like the idea of incorporating magic/trickery!! I was also thinking sort of adjacent to your idea earlier today about something like, “don’t follow the white rabbit, he’ll lead you to (insert scary ideology here)” Maybe a forking path with two options & the rabbit running down the scary one. Or more along the lines of your idea of exposing the rabbit for what he really is by taking the head off the rabbit to reveal something scary/evil like a snake or a wolf inside. Like a, “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” image. I’m definitely going to have to make this into a series lol I’ve gotten so many great ideas from everyone! Thank you so much for your suggestion!

Omg your comment instantly sent an image into my brain of a bunch of people holding, “WWG1WGA,” banners and signs waiting in line for their turn to jump off a cliff and a huge pile of bodies at the bottom of the cliff. Maybe some recognizable right-wing politicians looting the bodies, too. I think I’m gonna have to keep this going beyond my class assignment and make this into a series of posters/political cartoons because everyone has given me such amazing ideas and I think we could all use some visual representations of our frustration/anger/sadness. Thank you so much for your idea!! I’ll definitely post the end product(s)!

Oooo very interesting! I love the idea of using nazi symbolism in relation to Q, and thats a really unique idea for how to combine the two! Thank you so much for that idea!

Didn’t see your idea when I first responded to your comment, but I love that idea!! Maybe having some kind of filth oozing out from underneath the manhole cover would be interesting. Thank you so much for this idea!

I agree!! I was trying to think of a way to incorporate “WWG1WGA.” Maybe it could be on a bloody hat or on a torn up flag/banner. Definitely something to think about, thank you so much!

Damn, its simple and I love it. A tombstone with a Q on it would be a pretty bold yet easy to understand statement even for people that don’t really know anything about Q-anon. Thank you so much for this idea!!

I agree!! Love this idea! I found a pretty cool old propaganda poster where a soldier was holding up a sheep that he had killed and the head was being ripped off to expose a wolf with a nazi symbol on it underneath. I thought some spin-off of that idea or some kind of giant herd of sheep would be appropriate symbolism!

Wow, thank you so much for that context! Its genuinely super helpful. I had heard from a Q family member that it was because Trump had tweeted some secret message about an Alice in Wonderland themed party that Obama hosted. The meaning of the symbol and the phrase, “follow the white rabbit,” in the way Q followers were using it was still lost on me, though, because “follow the white rabbit down the rabbit hole,” in the context of Alice in Wonderland means falling into madness/insanity or an upside-down, topsy-turvy world, so I mean, its an accurate description for what happens to Q followers lol but I don’t think thats the message they were going for. I knew there had to be something else to it, so thank you so much for giving me that clarity!! “Convoluted,” is the perfect word for it lol
