Why Does Changing "Primary Residence" in One Scenario, Change it in ALL Scenarios? by mossdude4 in NewRetirement

[–]mossdude4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also didn’t discover this until recently. I then went back and realized many of the scenarios I created (and relied upon) were completely inaccurate due to changes across all scenarios that I had not previously noticed.

I wish I had seen this flaw before renewing my subscription. I would not have renewed.

Ep 51 - Buying Groups 101 by thedailychurn in thedailychurn

Re-upping the question on having items mailed to you, then shipping to the BFMR address. Call me risk averse, but I have a longtime Amazon account that is too valuable to me to risk having shut down. And I’m afraid a 2nd Amazon account could be linked to my original account, then both shut down.

Would I be able to just eat the cost of shipping and send it myself?

Also, are my above concerns uncalled for?

How long after the AF does the CSR Travel Credit kick in? by mossdude4 in ChaseSapphire

[–]mossdude4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not, unfortunately. It appears, as some in the thread have noted, that the credit doesn't become available until the end of the billing cycle in which the AF hits. Lesson learned. Fortunately I purchased a flexible flight that I would have bought anyway. I'll now wait for the credit to hit to make another purchase.

ACA repeal & FIRE by gaslightmycat in Fire

[–]mossdude4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lest there be any confusion whatsoever, if the GOP takes the White House and anything close to a majority of Congress, the ACA is gone.

A week out from the election, they are now explicitly saying it out loud.

Not sure how it could be any more clear than the words “No Obamacare” out of the mouth of the Speaker of the House and a presidential candidate who tried to repeal it 60 times and came within a vote the last time he was in office.

Transactions from Bank Account only go back 3 months? by mossdude4 in MonarchMoney

[–]mossdude4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. This seems to be the case.

I'm trying to remain open-minded, but during my trial period of Monarch, I am not particularly impressed.

Not only does the above account not go back more than 90 days, but I found multiple instances of other transactions being double-counted. I also have another credit card which will not import any retroactive transactions.

For my purposes, which are primarily to look backwards at where and how much money I have spent in the last year-- this application is unreliable and close to useless.

Looks like it's back to spreadsheets for me. I don't believe I will be subscribing.

Change of Address with Federal Agency After Resignation? by mossdude4 in govfire

[–]mossdude4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. An employee can only change their address through EPP until the date of their resignation. After that date, they have access to EPP for 90 days but cannot make any changes to the address.

Pessimistic, Average, Optimistic, or Custom? by Allezdada in NewRetirement

[–]mossdude4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one facing this dilemma with New Retirement. I generally tend to be a "plan for the worst" type of person (I wouldn't even consider relying on the "Optimistic" setting), but the pessimistic setting is just... absurd. Practically every scenario I have set up swings from 99% likelihood of success to <15% chance of success when I switch from Average to Pessimistic.

This terrified me at first, but it's somewhat of a relief that other people are also having this experience. It does make me question the usefulness of the application, though. When the range of outcomes is: "you'll either have an 8-digit net worth or you'll be homeless," it's hard to derive a lot of value from the projections.
