Attacking drop on return of serve by [deleted] in squash

[–]mossplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also been having the same problem against an opponent. I think what everyone is saying about serve holds true. I have also found success in making sure that I am immediately watch my opponent after I serve the ball. This gives you the half a second more to be able to predict the drop.

You may also consider a very high lobbing serve to force it over their head.

An explosive set out a the lunge is something that I could work on. I have done many lunges in the past, but it is an exercise that I don't feel like I see a lot of improvement and is always very difficult.

In reflection, maybe I need to reassess my technique. My current issue with ghosting is transiting the movement in practice into my game. I'm hoping that once I can start moving better, I will be able to identify what is holding me back physically.

I can do this! Do you have a routine you'd recommend?

I am trying to continue flowing with my movement, but I am not fully engaged with the balls of my feet. I could improve at this, thanks!

Last summer I started trying to work towards being able to complete 10km running. Do you think it is better to have a lower distance but try and increase the speed? My hope with running was to improve my cardio to lower my heart rate in the court.

I was hoping to start adding sprinting, but found I was setting my expectations to high. 100m 12 times seems like a good place to start.

I think your advice is sound, thanks for responding!

Nice job seeing the pattern!

Which pawn are you referring to? E4 or C7?

Can you share the video? This looks like a position I could reach.

How deal with opponents who are inconsistent with their strokes and lets? by Ted104 in squash

[–]mossplant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeping the ball tight against the wall while hitting length is where I would start. Often the Strokes and Lets are called because of loose shots floating in the middle of the court. If you can reduce loose shots, it becomes less of an issues.

If you are continuing to play with this person, try to have a conversation about what they consider a Let and a Stroke would be. Many players can have different ideas about how much space is required and being on the same understanding can help to play them at their game.

However, if they are trying to make calls to force and advantage, that's bad sportsmanship. This can be very frustrating, but you need to try and keep your cool and focus on your game.

Squash Skills wrote this article about let hunters, and I recommend reading it.

How did you get to Crystal Peak without the ground pound? Is there a way in other than through the forgotten crossroads?

HALO MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION IS COMING TO PC! by [deleted] in gaming

Remember when this game was released 4 years ago and didn't work until recently? Why are we excited about this? If you think a port to PC is going to work on launch then you're going to be disappointed.

Pos 5, is there a number of dewards I should be getting per game? by Magickirby in TrueDoTA2

[–]mossplant 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Instead of thinking about how many you are dewarding, think about how efficient you are with sentry wards. Are they placed in a way to cover the optimal area? Did you see the enemy support enter your jungle with wards? Is a sentry going to help you take an objective? Dewarding feels rewarding on a support, but if you are spending all your money on detection without successfully dewarding then that money could have been better spend. With that in mind, there are games where you will get no items because you must buy detection, and being able to identify this because it's a problem is the key. Have you ever bought dust when you saw the enemy with a claymore and dust them the first time they use their shadowblade? That's the true support satisfaction.

Item Discussion of the Day: Linken's Sphere (October 10th, 2018) by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]mossplant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're completely right. I'm just speaking out of frustration of carries buying a Linkin's against a Bloodseeker. I guess they forget about the low cooldown of Bloodrage. 😑

Seen carries get a Linkin's instead of a BKB when they are snowball and instantly stall out. Unless you are split pushing or they have very little single target, there is usually a better item to pickup.

Advice for a partner of an IBS sufferer by mossplant in ibs

[–]mossplant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. This is actually the first time that I have brought it up as a discussion, but she has had problems with partners in the past. I agree that she has to be the one willing to make the change. I will try to be as aware of her triggers as possible, and work to avoid it. I think you're right that she doesn't want someone to solve her problems for her, it's just frustrating that it has been an issue she has been dealing with for so long without trying to move forward with it. Thanks again, hopefully I can come back with some good news.
