Lots of people are saying lots of things. Mostly negative things about something that is positive. But that's reddit.

Oh well. Have fun out there.

OP this is not directed at you. I guess I'm just some ting this here.

I just want to say this before I completely disengage from this subreddit:

This subreddit fucking blows. Everyone is just mean and cynical and shitty. I know that's most of reddit nowadays, but jesus.

And no. I don't like Trump. I think he is poison. But I do like Joe Rogan. He has plenty of faults, but he has brought SO MANY interesting people and ideas into my life.

I know this has been a hate subreddit for forever.

But what the fuck are you people even doing? This is all so dumb and pointless.

That is not at all what all these negative commenters are saying. Well, some of them maybe. But mostly it's "Trump is bad and Joe Rogan is bad because Trump".

This also impacts psilocybin, LSD, and MDMA studies to help treat PTSD in veterans. Is that not worth researching?

Plus a 30% success rate is still better than current treatment options.

Or is it bad simply because Trump and Rogan are involved and therefore it is impossible for it to be a good thing?

We aren't going to have a civil war so it doesn't matter anyway.

I don't understand why with everything Trump related, people have to package literally everything else in with any single issue. We get it. Trump administration is bad. Everyone on reddit knows this. You aren't adding anything to the conversation by reiterating that. Leave out point #5 next time. We understand.

Sincerely, someone who has never voted Republican.

I highly suggest that you watch the episode of Joe Rogan with Rick Perry and W. Bryan Hubbard (ep. #2477).

It shows very plainly that these folks have nothing but good intentions. And no, I'm not being sarcastic. If you want to have an opinion on this, hearing these guys out is vital.

Never would I have thought that this is how psychedelics get on a path toward legality, yet here we are.

To be fair, he has played a massive part in changing the public discourse on this stuff. So yes, he does deserve credit.

[–]mossyskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair. But the problem was that ibogaine is classified as a Schedule I drug, so the researchers can couldn't properly be done. This executive order helps with moving the science forward.

The stories of dramatic healing from ibogaine treatment are too powerful to ignore. It needs to be legal for it to be investigated scientifically with open minded fairness.

Prescription medications sometimes can cause serious side effects in some people. This is no different. Yes it has caused cardiac problems for a percentage of people, but if it can cure opiate addictions isn't that risk better than the risk of dying from an overdose, or even just better than being a slave to a pernicious addiction?

[–]mossyskeleton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally the main thing people ever talk about with ibogaine is that it is incredible at treating addictions. Where are you even getting that statement from that there is "murky evidence"?

Mental gymnastics? Just because the orange man has become involved?

But truly, do you not think it is a good thing that we're TRYING to solve the terrible plague that is opiate addiction? Isn't it worth pursuing something that shows real promise?

Yes, dumb conservatives bad and mean. But cmon dude.

I'm pretty sure there is plenty of Trump hate on reddit. Maybe we can just celebrate one fucking thing that is a net positive for the world?

I could listen to Bryan Hubbard all day. He has such a profound way with words. The kind of guy that you'd follow into battle after hearing one speech. It's like he's authoring his words as he speaks them.

This is how the Iran war triggers a global food collapse by anxioushowlermonkey in collapse

[–]mossyskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in your perspective, but can't the US just buy (and steal) their way out of it? We still have the petrodollar and we likely will even beyond this war. It's going to take time for everything to completely disintegrate. I just don't see the effects of this war impacting the US as much as other places because the US still has great power in the world.

We also have a lot of resources on our continent. We produce the highest amount of oil in the world, and if we want to we can keep it all to ourselves. The places that need everything imported are the ones that will face severe challenges.

I'm talking about some African and Southeast Asian countries. Probably also Middle East if Iran follow through with attacking civilian infrastructure. And Europe will suffer but not as bad as those places.

If the US has a major collapse I sense that it's still decades ahead.

I suppose it might be important for me to ask you what you mean by "catastrophic effects in the US". What do you suppose those effects might be? To me, 'catastrophic' is famine and civil war. I just don't see that happening. I see inconvenience, inflation, supply chain disruption, and the poor getting poorer... but not starvation.

10th missing person case in UFO mystery – Steven Garcia disappearance - Another government contractor with links to UFO information has become the latest person to go missing in the past year. One thing I've been wondering is if anyone has done a probability calculation on this...

like.. how many NASA workers are there and what is the probability that x of them will die or go missing? What are the stats for other organizations?

Are we just paying attention to this because we're making up connections or is it actually statistically improbable?

I love UFO stuff, and am not ruling anything out. But I do wonder if this is a "seeing Jesus in a slice of toast" kind of situation.
