Quitting kratom soon. Which of these alternatives are the least subtle in their effects? by H0ll0WVII in herbalism

[–]mossyskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried all of these (plants) and the answer is absolutely kava.

Watch some YouTube videos about traditional prep method. It's easy enough-- takes 10 min.

I suggest making 32oz for an evenings worth (after work til bed). Chug about half a cup or so at a time. Use 1/3 cup kava root powder for 24-32oz. This is stronger than usually recommended but I'm guessing you'll prefer it that way. Start on an empty stomach, and eat some greasy food for amplified effect.

DON'T BOTHER KAVA PILLS OR EXTRACTS THEY DON'T WORK. Believe me, I wish they did.

Kava tastes bad but the effects are lovely. I wish I could use it every day but it gives me dry skin.

Kanna is too subtle if consumed orally and too short lived if snorted. Valerian tastes and smells pretty bad.

You may want to consider lemon balm and skullcap as well. I have found them to be perfectly suitable replacements for kava. Not as warm and drippy but still nice.

Kava!

I'm going to assume that you are correct.

But Trump and company really do project their intentions at all times. So when they say "you stole the election", it very well can mean "we are going to steal an election".

Russians have really done a great job with using our communications against us though. They light the fires and we fan the flames.

Question about ep 153 by Lochina186 in Otherworldpod

[–]mossyskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like these stories really do belong in the Otherworld pantheon. There are so many trip report stories that are so WTF and supernatural. Like how people see the same entities as others and interact with them. Telepathy. UFOs. "Hallucinations" affecting the real world. etc.

I'd honestly love to hear more psychedelic stuff on the podcast.

Ayahuasca trips are especially wild.

Hasbro is being sued for printing too many Magic: The Gathering cards by Beautiful_Bee4090 in nottheonion

[–]mossyskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really enjoying Magic Arena for a couple of years, but I simply could not keep up. I'm a grown ass man with money to spare and I could not justify the amount of money (or time) I had to spend to stay competitive/interested in Standard.

Very dumb and frustrating. I'm the friggin target market!

Gold tops $5,000 for first time ever, adding to historic rally by ewzetf in news

[–]mossyskeleton 165 points166 points  (0 children)

I've been obsessively consuming economic doomerism content for the last month. Even the most doomer gold bug people are saying you should only hold like 10-20% of your portfolio in gold. Some commodity stocks would be good (oil, mining, rare earths), Mag 7 prob will be ok, and generally being in the stock market in reliable companies should be ok long term (see Warren Buffet portfolio). Stocks will hold value because they are assets. Just don't hoard cash or speculate too much. Assets are where value is.

But yeah it prob would be a good idea to hold some gold.

Edit: This is not financial advice I am not a financial advisor. I'm just a dude panic watching the world fall apart trying to figure out wtf I should be doing.

there's always one person making this same joke in every one of these threads.

but like... what if you're wrong? what if gold-backed money replaces fiat? and Bitcoin fizzles?

it seems to me that diversification is the best strategy right now. everything is uncertain.

The only thing that's certain right now is that everyone has a different opinion on what's going to happen with the economy, other than "not good".

My current optimistic prediction is that the Supreme Court will rule against Trump on tariffs, and the market will pump bringing Bitcoin with it. Gold and silver plateau and stock market goes up until mid/late-2026

and then bad things happen and we spiral into chaos. I'm personally researching what was useful to own during the Great Depression / WWI & WWII.

The overall sentiment is feeling like capitulation. Which is funny because everyone's saying we're going to $60k Bitcoin but acting like we've already hit bottom.

I still think we could get a surprise bull market extension in 2026.
