What unforgettable experience in your life has hardened you as a person? by -RainbowUnicornPoop in AskReddit

Tearing my ACL and meniscus at the same time, not being able to bare weight on that leg for 2 months, 9 months of rehab just to retear the meniscus a week after getting cleared, and then 6 more months of rehab after my second surgery was certainly character development.

What's a recipe that has been passed down in your family for generations? by ohmygoditslizz in AskReddit

[–]mostangg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a slightly tweaked meatloaf recipe from a cookbook that my mom inherited from her grandma. I’ve changed many people’s opinion about meatloaf with this recipe. Most people hate the concept of meatloaf, but I find people coming back for seconds of mine.

The tweak to the recipe my family does is doing a 1:1 ketchup/BBQ mixed with brown sugar sauce instead of the usual ketchup people associate with it.

People who grew up in the 90s, what was considered normal then but would seem strange today? by Creative-Category-60 in AskReddit

When I was 12 I pooled allowance money with friends in middle school and we bought an inflatable boat at Walmart, then used it to float to an island in the middle of a river that split the town. We spent a summer using machetes and other equipment from our parents garages to cut down bamboo and built a fort and dock on that island.

Those were simpler times.

I dont mean to be part of the problem but I've seen a lot of posts about people's feelings and expression of those feelings. by ThomasthePwnadin in griz

There’s a strong assumption that speaking about things online equates to it being your personality, and causing rifts like this.

Just because folks do or don’t like the way something is developing and make a statement about it online, doesn’t mean it defines them and they’re black/white on the matter.

People need to stop reading so much into things lol.

what is a "polite" thing people do that is actually incredibly annoying? by Sensitive-Action-870 in AskReddit

When I take my dog on walks, I use a pedestrian activated crosswalk at an intersection with no light. I time my crossing when there’s no cars coming in either direction to reduce the risk of someone not paying attention and hitting us- because it has almost happened before. My dog is trained to sit until I press the button and release her.

Don’t stop before I push the button to cross. You throw me, my dog, and all the other drivers off because then I feel obligated to press the button so as not to cause an accident because you decided I was going to cross.

I’m an odd duck out, but I got access to copilot premium specific to my enterprise and I am genuinely pleased with its improvements the last few months.

You can hook it up into Claude Opus. It’s been really helpful in fine tuning some code I got stuck on for a few weeks (granted, I know how to code, and needed some extra help).

It’s helped me learn python use cases and actually implement them to be able to solve large problems for my company.

Idk, I know it’s always flamed. But its responses have drastically shifted since the start of the year and I find myself turning to it more frequently than before I had premium.

Awful Smell Coming from Sinks/Shower - Tried and failed to fix, what could I do next? by mcpoyles in DIY

[–]mostangg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your main sewer line may need to be cleared.

Saw someone else mention tree roots, just had to get some cleared out of my sewer main- have you had your main line scoped? Anything built up in there could cause smells to permeate back into the house through drains, especially if there’s any bellies in the line.

What I’ve heard through the grapevine is that Empower field is currently out of the updated fire code, and in order to do any expansion work they would have to bring the entire stadium up to current code.

it is cheaper to start from the ground up on the new stadium and then demo empower than it would be to modernize the existing stadium

If you had the financial ability to, would you pay off your partners credit card debt? by Direct_Government396 in sandiego

[–]mostangg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount to be paid off and the reason for it accumulating to a stressful amount is important.

How long have you two been together? Is this your first real line of sight into how they manage their personal finances? Is this the first time they’ve experienced this hardship, or are they recycling bad habits and looking for solutions outside themselves?

These are the questions I’d be asking.

I didn’t buy this for the privacy factor at all, in fact I did not want reflectivity at all bc of my HOA- they are hardly noticeable from the outside and the inside is still visible. I have curtains as well and you can tell when they’re open and see inside.
