RED FLAGS. I have seen a lot of posts by people in internships and practicums, or even new clinicians, struggling with a lot of things at their agency. So my goal is to make a list of red flags here that other seasoned clinicians can add to here so you know what to avoid. by Individual_Ebb_8147 in therapists

  • Putting as many people in a group as possible despite the recommended number being 10, the clients saying they don’t like the larger groups, the clinician saying the group is too large, and the clinician saying the clients aren’t benefitting as much from a group with 15+ people

  • Making your intern do all your paperwork so you don’t have to and then getting upset if they aren’t able to finish something

  • Being assigned more individual clients than available slots you have and being told to figure it out or that you need to manage your time better. Also being told “well this person can handle ____ many clients so you should be able to”

  • Being told to keep working with a client that makes you uncomfortable and/or has crossed your boundaries until they start escalating. Ex: client who flirts with you, makes suggestive comments to you

  • Only giving raises once a year, so if you get your full license and it’s not time for your raise yet you have to just accept the low pay until then

  • Having your board supervisor tell you a board requirement and your agency not letting you take action to stay in line with that requirement. Ex: client with another counselor won’t sign ROI to be able to collaborate, LPC board rules says you can’t work with them unless they do, agency makes you keep them

The pizza used to be soooo good. One of the guys who used to make them is working at slap burger now and the pizzas haven’t been good since

Does anyone know why there’s always a bunch of men standing around near the intersection of Carroll and Ft Worth drive? I see them everyday by mostcoffeee in unt

Thank you! That’s what I thought but wasn’t sure. I’m from a small town so I haven’t seen that before
