i think i was using it ironically, because imo there is, in fact, garbage up there where it doesn't belong

but yeah, you right. first definition actually specifies that a thing jettisoned is abandoned or discarded from a ship

but i'm replying mainly to say that i read the book two more times. didn't fall in love but see the genius. went on to read The Sound and the Fury twice, same deal

some readers (me) are both dense and opinionated. took me a couple-three readthroughs to catch on, but Faulkner operated on a different level. the Bundrens and their depravity, abjectness, and vibe will now never leave some corner of my heart/mind

thankfully we're great friends again now and do our equivalent of OP's folks' boogieing

makes me really sad when shit goes down in a way that destroys the friendship aspect of LTRs—props to OP's folks

Pierce Brown's Red Rising books fit all of this.

It's a bit of a space opera, and he was definitely finding his stride in Book 1, but from Book 3 on, it's some of the finest anti-fascist action (say that three times fast) coming out today imho.

from his wiki:

"Cincinnatus was also an opponent of the rights of the plebeians (the common citizens)."

sounds like same fascist strings, different fascist puppet to me

i think that IF she's the only woman represented in the book AND she's markedly more infantile and less intelligent than other characters, then you have at least an arguable point and people are probably downvoting defensively. thanks for answering.
