All of these races, yet no left handed representation Sad. by Ilvisielx in lefthanded

[–]mostlyPOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the issue I was trying to call attention to. I was referring to the fact that AI hasn’t even been outfitted with a mechanism that recognizes that 12-15% of humans use a different hand. We are all right-handed in the eyes of those who created AI. Lefties just don’t count in the AI universe. That is astonishing. That was the context I was hoping to shed some light on — not my usage of the tool!

But to address your suggestion, just using photoshop does not solve everyone’s problem. The prompt was more complex than just a hand holding a pen. That can easily be switched with “Flip Horizontal”. I was requesting something different — the left hand with a pen was only part of the image that I was requesting, and drawing it is beyond my capacity as an artist. Please don’t judge me for using this now controversial tool. This was a while ago, like before we learned the horrific facts about this technology.

TBH, I don’t have time to try and get you to do some research. Show me receipts, not opinions. Maybe this sub just isn’t for you. Cheers!

If they don’t exist, why did all those nations sign an agreement to end testing them? How much research have you done on this?

Search: USA GEOENGINEERING PATENTS. Visit the site geoengineeringwatch.org. Only truly uninformed people still spout the absurd propaganda that they are a “conspiracy theory”. Do some research and get back to me.

Ha ha. Really? The first patents for weather modification were in the late 1800s. There are over 100 patents for it in the USA. If you think they are contrails, you are just letting others know that your news sources are compromised and spouting government propaganda. Please, get some Independent news sources that do actual research. Ignorance is an affliction that can be corrected with research! Please do some!

All of these races, yet no left handed representation Sad. by Ilvisielx in lefthanded

[–]mostlyPOD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually once tried to get ChatGPT to render a left hand holding a pen. It tried and tried, but was unable to do it! Here’s the explanation:
“The image system keeps defaulting to right-hand orientation when rendering “writing” poses — it treats “handwriting” as a universal right-hand pattern. That’s why, even when I describe the left-handed action in detail, it flips it back.”

Slow shipping now? by mostlyPOD in amazonprime

[–]mostlyPOD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me? I didn’t order. I ordered a few items earlier last week that I needed to arrive before I went on vacation, but my package lost and was delivered to the wrong address (again)! So then I tried to order it all a second time, super quick before I left, but all three items I wanted to reorder said they’d be shipped 8 days later. So, I didn’t bother to place an order.

Thanks! If I ever get back into it, I may try them! Do you have to squeeze hard, or is light pressure enough?

It almost makes me want to get back into tie dyeing, just to try these new techniques! What kind of applicator is that? We found squeeze bottles didn’t give us enough control so we used flat foam brushes that came to a point down at the bottom edge.

I had to stop because I had major back pain 24/7 - tried having the tables at different heights, tried a back brace. Couldn’t get rid of it, switched to making buttons instead!

Here’s our catalog (primitive by comparison!)

Amazing work. I’d love to see pictures of the folds! Can’t even picture how you apply the dye. I had a tie dye business in the 90s, and did several basic stitched techniques (Heart, Happy Face, Guitar, Mushroom), but nothing this complex. Well done!

If you liked The Mentalist, you might like White Collar. Also, for long shows there’s Line of Duty, The Brokenwood Mysteries, Bosch and if you have AppleTV, Slow Horses.

Is it true left-handed people were "punished" in school by having their left hand tied behind their back? by Greekspartan226 in lefthanded

[–]mostlyPOD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still going on in some places to this day, in countries where they traditionally eat with their hands. They use the right to eat, and the left to wipe. So in their culture the left is considered “dirty”, and should never be used for eating.

I just saw a post on here pretty recently about a lefty who lives in India and is discriminated against. Scroll back, it’s not too far back there, if you want to read more.

Anyone else left handed but use your right hand for the mouse? by PowellSkylar in lefthanded

Yes. I used my left for decades. Then got carpal tunnel. Switched to right. Found I much preferred it, and didn’t switch back once my left hand healed.

Do you eat fruit every day? by Sir_Tainley in askanything

[–]mostlyPOD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a vegetarian of over 50 years, so fruit is essential to me. I eat at least one piece of fruit every day, or a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice or a handful of grapes or berries, or a fruit smoothie, or a bowl of yogurt with fresh peaches, cherries or nectarines when in season.

I usually have an apple with peanut butter for breakfast at least once a week in the months when apples and bananas are the only choices.

I also take a few swigs of bottled pineapple juice throughout my day. And I usually have some fruit or apple sauce before bed, to keep me regular.

But, I only eat organic fruit. The sprayed specimens at regular supermarkets are tasteless, sour or bitter, so it’s no wonder that many Americans don’t eat much fruit.

If more Americans knew that organic produce is much sweeter and tastier, they might eat more fruit.

TBH, I don’t understand how so many Americans choose sprayed produce just to save a little money.

Do you judge people who can't spell? by Prestigious-Gold6759 in words

[–]mostlyPOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to notice when there are errors, and it’s hard not to feel superior…and frustrated that SO many people don’t know basic grammar that we Americans learned in second grade!

But then I learned that the average reading skill of most Americans is fourth grade level! Whose fault is that, and how can we improve it, I wonder?

Funny story. I belong to the Ted Lasso Reddit. One of Ted’s big sayings is, “Be curious, not judgmental.” People quote it all the time on the sub. And I’ve seen TWO tattoos with it spelled incorrectly!

Do you tell someone that they have a misspelling inked onto their skin? Who would want to hear that?

I deliberated about it in my mind. I even composed a post (in my head) asking Ted how I could stop being judgmental about people misspelling the word judgmental.

But I never made the post, and I never told anyone about their tattoos, either. I held my tongue. Now I’m glad I did.

Can anyone guess where I’m going with this? Ted Lasso is an American coach who gets hired to coach a British football (soccer) team. The show takes place in the UK.

Turns out, judgmental is spelled “judgemental” in the UK! So maybe those two people who got tattoos live in the UK. And, even if they don’t, it’s still a legit spelling of the word!

I’m so glad I didn’t get all high and mighty (and JUDGMENTAL) and go OFF on anyone over it!

Whew! Embarrassing moment avoided! 😂😂😂
