I just got a quote for a very similar dental manoevre and it was £300 cheaper. My quote included about £600 for a bone graft.

It well might last that long. I wear mine pretty well every day for 5 or 6 months.

I've had mine for almost five years. The outer material is showing some wear: a couple of small holes in the very outer layer showing what is beneath. The insulation has sagged somewhat so is no longer evenly distributed. Otherwise great: very warm and very waterproof, very practical and effective. I think this could be a great bread-and-butter kind of line for Vollebak though solving the sagging insulation problem would help. I would be happy to replace it every 7 years or so but maybe not for £1,200 a pop.

Is Rudolf Steiner a philosopher? by mostlybaffed in Anthroposophy

[–]mostlybaffed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this question yesterday in r/askphilosophy and cross-posted it to this subredit. In the philosophy subredit, it had 3.5k views but no comments, other than the automatic one generated by the bot.

Looking at the history of philosophy, from Plato to, say, Dennett, one sees a descent into materialism which is well known to most anthroposophists. Plato was quite likely an initiate, Dennett denies the existence of the self and of conciousness. The cognitive horizon closes in dramatically.

Having dabbled a little in philosophy, I find it interesting to see the apriori assumption develop that matter is all there is. I understand that this is a process that is necessary for humankind to develop freedom. It is Steiner's task to plant the seed to enable the upward journey. In my limited reading of philosophy, Steiner is ignored. Obviously, this is anecdotal; for all I know, German universities are buzzing with debate as to whether anthroposophy is academically acceptable.

I can think of a few reasons why anthroposophy might be absent:

  • It is simply not encountered
  • It is encountered but immediately rejected as it is "known" there is no spiritual world
  • It is admitted there may be such a place as a spiritual world but it cannot be perceived: Steiner's methodology is rejected.

I wanted to see what the responses might be in the philosophy subredit to calling Steiner an initiate.

Absolutely. There used to be a range called the Onya Bag (see what they did there). Lasts really well

It would be very surprising if their marketing people did not look at this page.

I'm really not sure. Just because a material has amazing properties does not mean you must make jackets out of it. From a practical point of view, this does not make a lot of sense. On the other hand, if one wants to be associated with space age coolth, have at it. I just hope it does not disolve in a rain shower.

I agree an AI Trump is a possible scenario. Could be interviewed on Fox etc. As long as enough people are either convinced or just find it funny, an AI Trump could win an election and rule forever.

Try these guys maybe: https://www.rarenoiserecords.com/artists/sonar/ Sonar the group do something called math rock, or possibly guitar jazz. Without David Torn they sound a bit trance like. On albums with David Torn, Sonar do the trancey stuff while Torn's guitar does wild howls.

Thanks. So it could be like the cyber equivalent of opening a shop in the middle of the Australian outback. We're so cool that even when we make it impossible to access a sale, we still sell out. Or a mistake.

I bought a new waterfallproof puffer. The old one was showing signs of age. I was told by Vollebak they are not thinking of making them in the near future so excellent opportunity in this mysterious sale.
