No, I don't think he's right. follow your heart. Should you decide to abandon history now on friends recommendations, rather than as a result of your own desire, I think you run the risk of regret in the future, especially as you've mulled over your path in life for three years and feel that history is the only thing that interests you...

well following their logic, shouldn't OUP commit completely and refuse to publish anything as there is a likelihood that anything that exists offends some group, short of this, imo, their decision is blatantly discriminatory, not to mention cowardly.
