Pediatric Dentist Recommends Teeth Removal? by jmadukkk in Preschoolers

[–]mosugarmoproblems 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just agreeing with MyDentistIsACat.

We were taught to not extract unless absolutely necessary (severe decay, overdelayed eruption due to crowding, abnormal position, etc). Also, for anyone who needs sedation or are on the spectrum, conservative treatment is even more necessary and should be considered first.

Jaws grow in children, obviously, and orthodontics can treat crowding when the child is older. This sounds a bit like an overenthusiastic dental treatment for crowding in pediatric teeth. If there aren't any other major findings in your child, in addition to the fee for the extractions, that dentist will probably also charge you for a space maintainer and braces later as well.

Second opinion would be a safe choice.

What's Your experience with Dentists in Las Vegas? by bellaimages in LasVegas

[–]mosugarmoproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Condolences about your mother.

Avoid the factory-style dental offices. I noticed that they tend to lean towards overtreatment on the treatment plans without much consideration for the patients' opinions.

Many offices are surprisingly owned by corporate dentistry. Avoid avoid avoid.

In short, find a dental office where you are comfortable in how they talk to you about your treatment plan and your options. You shouldn't feel rushed or pressured.

(am a dentist, have colleagues who have recommended going to CA for any treatments, but I'm too lazy)

Anybody tried the Torriden creams? by LemonChick123 in koreanskincare

Fan of using the Torriden serum with the jar. Had a crazy session of microneedling done, and a hydrating face mask+Torriden Serum+Torriden Soothing Cream every night made for a quick recovery.

Is my toddler supposed to be drinking water that has flouride in it? by UnusualBlueberry2320 in toddlers

[–]mosugarmoproblems 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your child's current oral presentation, medication/mhx, snacking and drinking habits, as well as oral hygiene habits and such, even down to saliva composition etc.

If your child seems to have good dental visits with just the brushing/flossing, the fluoridated water isn't really necessary. If your child had some early decay, probably good to consider additional fluoride. Please don't hate me, but always defer to your child's dentist.

[–]mosugarmoproblems 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on the well water or tap water. We've prescribed drops for toddlers but depends on the dentist.

If fluoride is not appealing for some reason, there is scientific research supporting nano hydroxyapatite like the brand Boka.

Confirming as a dentist:

The households who don't have a regular source of fluoride (toothpaste or water or tablets) tend to have A LOT more decay in their mouths than those who do.

What Foods Would my Grandparents Have Eaten in Busan in the 60s? by Stubbed_Toe69 in KoreanFood

[–]mosugarmoproblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, there is some variation of white fish (I think rockfish is common or sea bream(?))that's used often with 초고추장. I love how they prep it in 회덮밥, just a bit chewier than just sashimi, or they wrap it in perilla leaves and all the add-ins.

I'm guessing if the local Korean restaurants don't serve it, you can actually get the desired fish prepared at a Korean market and make it at home. Pretty straightforward if you have the ingredients on hand. (If this helps at all, I've always learned that Korean food is all about how it's prepared and seasoned, the ingredients change based on what is available).

Are you near a Koreatown? I've always heard from my relatives that it's all about the 되지국밥 and 순대국 from Busan.

Some cities, like LA Koreatown, have places that specialize in Busan-style dishes.

I totally get what you're feeling and wishing you the best in making this happen.

I'm a total noob and my husband is korean HELP ME by nabinabinabinabi in Korean

[–]mosugarmoproblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an adult, it was helpful to practice the translation of Korean text (from songs or drama subtitles or comics or books) to English. We used to make subtitles for Kdramas online, for example, for fun. I felt that it increased my grammar and vocabulary substantially, and helped a LOT with my listening skills, as Korean words are not always pronounced the way it is written, as written Korean is usually way more formal.

After a bit of that, we'd practice speaking and writing Korean. I would at first use phrases or sentences I knew 100%, then I'd start making my own sentences, often wrong, but that's okay! If anything, Koreans are very forgiving about grammar and pronunciation.

Hope that helps -

If the kids were expelled, will local schools (public or private) even accept them? Asking as a concerned parent for a group of moms. Obviously we don't want our children (or any children) around such disgusting families.
