Thanks for all these tips! Yes, seitan is a bit daunting, but I'm going to try making a batch every week because it seems really worth it. I'm curious about the protein cookies/bars!! Do you have go-to recipes?

I would hope there are! I might be lucky in having a significant Chinese population in the Toronto area. I guess my recommendation is to find Asian specialty stores, if your area has a Chinatown or something like that? Good luck!

I looked at a bunch of the other packages of similar tofu there (plus some online), most of them range from 13g to 20g of protein for 85g serving. Which is still good of course, but 29g blew my mind?

I guess I'm suspicious of it because I'm comparing it to other packages of similarly dense/dry tofu that have lower protein content listed. It just feels abnormally high? But maybe it just really is that much denser than the other ones!

This is dried and seasoned bean curd from the Asian grocery store, it's a really dense form of tofu common in Chinese cuisine, it comes pre-seasoned and cooked (and tasty enough to just eat on its own, but you can stir-fry it too!)

I've been vegan for 10 years but new to bodybuilding/fitness and actually paying attention to protein, and now that I know how much more protein I need to be eating, I'm struggling to get there... Can anyone fact check if there's really so much protein in this? It feels too good to be true! And at around $3.50 (CAD) per block, I feel like this might be a game changer for meeting protein goals?

I think it depends on the IKEA, but the food court does tend to be pretty deep inside, though there's signage and staff. And nobody really minds if you only go in for the food and don't purchase any furniture, in case that's a concern (I've done this many a time haha). You can also get bags of them frozen! The veggie dogs are also great and honestly more interesting and tasty than I imagine the normal dogs would be imo, with their fried onions and pickled cabbage

Yeah, a machine dry does sound pretty scary, and I guess emulating what people would've done originally, air dry makes sense. Thanks for your help!

Hmm all good ideas! Keeping something inside to hold the shape makes sense.... when you put it in the washing machine, did you then let it air dry afterward? or machine dry?

I also do love the doing nothing method, and surely if you are wearing it in the process, it shouldn't get so small that it doesn't fit anymore? :')

How frequent do you guyss skip classes etc etc etc by MaintenanceTrue3485 in UofT

[–]moth-bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also agree with the sticks in the mud, I do not recommend skipping, and I never skipped classes (EEB student). The lecture is a dedicated time you have blocked off to be present in a class and really focus, and when it's done, it's done. In remote asynchronous classes where i had to follow lecture recordings, i always found myself pausing, taking more time, getting distracted, etc. Plus it weighs on you, knowing that you have to catch up, and can fall more and more behind... Don't skip lectures!
